cooling fans zzp1.0

i put the zzp 1.0 in and when i shut the car off the cooling fans come on sometimes. what is the point of this? (beside the obvious, i guess)

also, i dont have performance shift so its only supposed to increase trans pressure on wot (my understanding). i've seen mixed info about pressure effect on longevity of trans. anyone have any experience with this?

your trans fall apart or is it going strong tens and tens of thousands of miles later?

The fans staying on after the car is off is to help cool the engine a little as you said for obvious reasons.

yeah:th_laugh-lol3:

i mean, i cant even think of a good way to ask, really. its obvious why but i still dont see the point. cool off faster so it can just sit there in Park and not run?

Helps between track runs mostly. Never heard anything but positive from increased trans line pressure.

When you park and the fans turn off, the temperature of the engine will rise a few degrees. Turning the fans on for a minute while the engine is no longer making explosions helps keep everything happy, especially if you're in a hurry to touch something in the engine bay.

I ran a zzp 1.0 pcm in my gtp for about 30K miles with increased line pressure and a thrasher shift kit chirping tires into 2nd all the time and it's held up fine.

Firmer shifts will usually lead to premature failure of the drive chains or input shaft. I usually leave shift line pressure close to stock if the car still has a stock transmission.

well its been rebuilt with about 3k on it but not "built."

i changed the valve cover gaskets last week and now its acting a bit funny. i think its a vacuum issue because a couple broke and the t fittings are getting kinda flimsy. i had to noodle them back together. i haven't had time or weather to redo them better.

anyway, what its doing....it idles rough and the car shakes a bit at idle. the upper mounts are toast, though. but it wasn't doing that before.

and the part that is bothering me.....it starting to rpm needle dance a bit between 40-50mph or so. the condition is when you are going up a hill usually and cruise is on. its done it a little without. its just like it can't decide what it wants to do. give it some gas and its fine and it goes into overdrive just fine or if you put the throttle down its fine.

i put the pcm in right after doing the valve covers and making my intake. probably the next day. its only been running with that pcm for about a week or so total. it seems to have changed the shift points and it shifts more firmly overall. but the zz site says for cars without perf shift the line pressure only increases for what would be considered a performance shift situation.
