zzp z7 turbo kit

Ok so I'm looking into the z7 kit with it being ic and all the other little upgrades. What should I do to the tranny? It's going to be my dd about 40 miles one way but highway driving. What else should I prepare to put on the vehicle? I have an 02 gt with no mods just yet but thinking about this and maybe a s/c. Just looking to get into the low 14 maybe 13

Dude if you're only trying to get into the 13's then either a top swap or the z7 will work for you. You'll probably eventually need a new/rebuilt/upgraded tranny, but if yours is ok now, a cooler, new filter and fluid and shift kit could save it for a bit.

low 14's high 13's is like 250ish whp. Not ultra hard with a top swap. Turbo will get your 300whp and low 13's easy, with room to grow. Both if done correctly will be fine for DD.

But I'm looking at price too. I just want to have alittle fun. With the z7 kit I'm looking about 5 grand installed with the ic without doing anything to the tranny. So that's my dylema is spend that much and I'm in the low 13's with the turbo or spend what 3500 and be higher 13's with the s/c?

I'm just worried about the tranny. My gt has 86k on it but what I'm thinking is throw an m90 on, 1.9s, headers, cai, and a tune. So that's what 14's maybe?

Depends on your driving, but that sounds like a 13 sec m90. 1.9s with headers and a 3.4 usually gets people in the 13s.

i ran my stock trans for 40,000miles and it was still going strong when i pulled it for a built unit. for your goals you wont need anything more then 8-9 psi. the key is not being an asshole to it. mind you in those 40,000 miles i put well over 150 track passes on my stock trans down to 12.60's. my trans had a shift kit and HD diff upgrade

Cam not can! And what cam would be better fit a dd but so give good power? So my list wouLd be
cam
headers
tune from whoever
shift kit
And HD upgrade and I should be good with the zzp m90 kit?

The ZZP M90 kit is way overpriced. You can build a nasty topswap if you source the parts yourself versus forking ZZP over that much money.

Source your own Gen v m90 kit. May save a few dollars. Just make a list and go to jy and watch the for sale section here. You can dd most any cam as long as your idle is good and you don't drive like a kid with his first car. I have an s1x and love it. Xp is good as well as nic.

i guess the real question is who is going to do the work? are you gonna do it or have a shop do it?

I'm going to have a shop do the work just because I don't have the time nor patience to do that. But aren't the parts they use new? I'd rather have new parts or at least refurbished than unknowing what the jy car went thru.

troll the classifieds here and a few other sites these cars are what 15 years old? only chumps pay full price for mods and ohh and +1 for doing it yourself!

You're not going to find a new m90. Refurbished yes, but new no. IF you go turbo then the kit will include everything(almost) new.

If you already have a shop in mind get an estimate for both builds. It'll give you an idea of how much it'll cost for you not being patient. It's one thing if you have the money but not the time, but with you saying money is a little bit of a constraint, i would at least consider doing it yourself/with some friends.

I have a shop near me i trust. They quoted me $1400 labor for a cam install, no parts included. That right there convinced me to do it myself. Save that money if you can dude.
