ZZP HV3 intake milage

I seen several have installed these and it seems most love the power gains. I plan to replace the gaskets on my 01 this spring and I am thinking about installing the HV3 plenum and a new UIM. However I can't find any information for mileage gains or losses . Doe the HV3 improve mileage or does it make it worse ? There is some great information as to what I need to order but if I take a hit on mileage I don't know if I want it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

x2^ I really can't see why you would loose alot of gas mileage, its just an insert. It's not like your bolting up a s/c or turbo.

The HV3 is suppose to provide a better path to give better flow to the LIM.

Well porting and polishing does the same thing. And it decreases fuel effeciency.

Just a thought. I'd have to say if it did make any difference that you would not notice it more than likley. And agree with sabrewings.

Wait, what? How?

Polishing the intake will reduce the rough cast layer and therefore decrease low rpm torque but will improve high RPM power. This is generally bad for mpg. It's the same if we had longer intake runners. Or a carubrator spacer or high rise manifold on a carburated setup. It raises peak RPM power.

More power but less fuel economy.

The HV3 is actually shortening the intake runners, though, not making them longer.

Polishing the intake runners won't decrease low RPM performance. Opening up the runners a bunch will loose intake velocity, which WILL shift the power band up, but a basic port/polish won't.

Well true. If you consider the entire length of the stock runners. Wich I guess you would.

If heard different info than what you have mentioned. But I think we share the same opinion that you wont actually notice any notable differences in MPG's.

The HV3 could lower volumetric efficiency, which could potentially affect MPG, but I agree, I seriously doubt it's to any measurable degree.
