zipper's CSC Monte history

I figured I'd give a quick history on my Monte. In the beginning I ran the Monte at the drag strip to see what it would do bone stock. It ran a best time of 15.7, so I had a lot of work to do, but it was a good start.

I did a whole bunch of bolt ons and a good tune from ZZP and ended up running a 14.6@94mph way back in August 2006.

Then in April of 2008 I had some TOG's installed and ran a 14.4@95mph. The Monte was still NA, and I was pretty pleased with it, but I wanted more.

In April of 2009 I installed some cometic head gaskets (.045") and tried again in the summer to beat my 14.4 1/4, but I couldn't ever do it for some odd reason.

Went to ZZP's dyno in October of 2009 and ended up putting down 222whp NA. Not too bad, but I still wanted more again, lol.

Then in Februaryish of 2010, the Novi 1000 went in and had it dyno tuned at ZZP again. With crappy L67 injectors and a stock fuel pump the Monte ended up making 325whp when we stopped the dyno at 5500rpm even though it's programmed to go to 6500rpm, but it was running really lean on the L67 injectors and the stock fuel pump.

Today, I went back to ZZP to see if a set of 42.5# injectors would cure the lean problem. They helped, but I still need to install a better fuel pump. Ended up making 348whp though (video: YouTube - 1998 Monte Carlo procharged 3800 update 2).

Here's a couple of pics with a buddy of mine's Malibu:

where did you score the novi kit at? Ive been thinking of emailing ZZP to see if they had any kits laying around collecting dust lol

I got my kit from a guy online. ZZP does actually have a kit available right now, I took a look at it today. They will also make the kit for you too if you ask them, even though it says that it's out of stock.

It's a fun setup. I love the Monte now :D

Thanks OrangeL67!

I came... For some reason I always loved that body style Monte. Very nice and i bet it causes a lot if WTF moments for other drivers.

just because of the pure fact that there arent that many videos of CSC 3800s on the internet, please....PLEASE take a good video. the constant whine, the powerband, the 100% awesome you have installed...do it now.

i love CSC setups.

As soon as the snow let's up I'll post some more videos. I've also noticed the lack of CSC 3800s online, so I'll make sure to represent ;)

I've had a couple of experiences on the road, but most people end up getting past me because I have no traction in first gear. Spinning the tires at 45mph is interesting :D

Thanks guys. Everyone keeps telling me it's a sleeper. Maybe after I'm done with the engine and tranny build I'll get to making it look fast too, who knows.

Also, I went with the t-stars because I've heard that they were one of the lightest 16" wheels offered on a w-body from GM.
