z7 turbo kit help

stock03gt

I bought a z7 kit from a friend with a blown turbo. I'm sending the turbo in to get fixed but I'm putting the kit on a highway mile gt with 240,000 miles on it. It's bone stock gt. 3800 n/a with a zzp 1.0 tune and a cai. I'm thinking pistons with bigger wrist pins, main and rod bearings, cam, double roller chain, roller rocker setup, 120# springs, ls1 injectors, hd trans with hardened fourth gear. And bigger chain set. Anyone think of anything else I should do with a motor with this many miles on it?

That is a lot of miles to be going too crazy modding I think. But an HV3 insert and TOG Headers/zzp powerlogs would be nice if you can get the manifold studs and nuts loose without breaking them.

Leave the rods, crank, pistons, and rod bearings alone. You can get a low mile 3800 cheap enough to not worry about wasting money on that stuff.

You're going to need more injector than an LS1 stocker can handle. Some Lucas 42.5s might be pushing it, I'd go 60s to be on the safe side.

You will want a full trans rebuild, or buy a triple edge. The stock HD won't hold up to the power of a turbo.

You will NEED a custom tune. That ZZP shelf tune will gurantee a blown motor for sure.

Bingo ^

Everything he said. Get a low mileage block and leave the internals alone and slap the turbo on it. Cheap yet effective.
