ok I just got this grand prix its a 2002 N/a 3800 it has a bad exhaust leak right after where the catalytic converter should be the last person welded in a pipe and took out converter I know this will probably give me some problems but i think there is something else wrong here when I accelerate I have no power very slow to accelerate also if I am driving and I let off the gas the tach goes down to 1000 rpms and will rev up all the way to 1500 if I am stopped it dose not do it just when I let off the gas and coast you can here the motor rev up to could it be the egr ?? or another sensor that is bad any ideas would help alot thanks !
 


I should also add gas millage is horrible DIC's telling me between 13-16 mpg and that with me driving it like a old lady
 
yes it is when they scanned it show up manily catalytic codes prob from not having a catalytic converter but having the o2 sensor still on?
but most people I ask said it will just throw the check engine light and should not affect how the car runs just the front o2 dose
 


yes got the car yesterday he told me the exhaust leak and he though it might have a bad egr but was not sure
 
The PCM might be trying to compensate for not having a cat and running rich although I'm not sure why. I'd check the basic tune up stuff, put a cat on it, and see what happens.
 
**** that prob my problem then huh that would be nice **** i traded 87 camaro for it ( camaro was junk) and other then this problem its in amazing condition
