• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I put autolite 104's in my GTP today along with new wires. wow i mean WOW i felt like kickin whoever owned my car last in the nuts! I noticed my plugs in the front of the engine "odds" were in bad shape with no matereial left on the plug. then i noticed WOW there is NOTHING left of the rear plugs "evens" the old owner must have gotten pissed off and said i cant change the rear plugs.... haha i got em done tonight wow it was a pain in the arse BIG TIME! but well worth it.. starts on a dime and i feel more power? NICE =]:th_king-normal: o yeah and i got like 10 slices on my hands due to heat sheilds and such =[

O yeah and i forget to mention that changed the pcv valve and fuel filter and got new synethic oil shes good as gold soon to get a trans flush =]

amateur:th_tongue2:
rock the motor forward next time, plugs are very easy to change. pick up a set of swivel sockets also, they will help out big time

i did! i took the dog bones out and used a pry bar to rock it forward then use a extension to hold it in place then i used a swivel socket and 15 or 16 mm for get em out. it was a bizitch!

the guy at the parts store though i was retarded i told him i wanted the 104's he argued with me saying NO they will not work and wont fit..... im like ok give me em anyways haha. they didnt come up under 99 GTP wierd ? what are they really for then?

you dont need 104's you have no mods so they would be useless. stock plugs are fine for you. did u check the gap prior to installing them?

First time i bought em they did that too me as well. They're not technically made for the GTP's. They are made as race plugs. Alot of people will argue with you and tell you that you should not put them in your car at the parts store. I usually just tell them that I know what I'm doing and to mind their own business.

Cam vs Rockers...no offense here, but if your not mechanically inclined (I am guessing due to this thread and your comments on how hard it was to change the plugs) I would not even think of doing a Cam...rockers you might be able to do...but it will be a long PIA process...if you do go with rockers, research, research, research, ask lots of questions, research, research, ask more questions...repeat above process till you cant possibly think of anymore questions or possible snags you might run into, then proceed slowly, and post your questions as you do it. Plan on it taking a weekend to do and if you can get help from another member or a mechanic friend...DO IT. I only say all this not to harp at you, but rather as a warning...Rocker and Cam installs are NOT places you want to make ANY mistakes. Leaving one bolt or nut not torqued down, or one thing not put back as it should can cause severe engine damage and I would hate to see anyone not 100% confident/comfortable with doing the job get it all done thinking they did a bang up job and screw their motor.

Again, NOT trying to belittle you or your mechanicals skills...just a word of caution.

Oh and your fine with the plugs in there, it won't hurt the car at all to have them in on a stock motor...little cold of a heat range maybe and gas mileage may suffer a bit (but not compared to the state your old ones were in), but it will be fine till the headers/3.4 pully go on.

That is why, if I am buying parts not specific to my car, I don't tell them what I want it for. I just know what I want and ask for it specifically. I want 6 autolite 104 plugs. End of story. If they ask for a specific application, I just say it is a custom application, which it is. Just know what you want, ask specifically for it, and be sure about it and they won't bother you. If you are at all hesitant or act like you don't know what you want, they will try to talk you out of it. In their defense, they do get a lot of douche bags in there doing stupid stuff, so they are trained to ask those questions.

But typically for me, I am in the stores so much anyway, I know most of the guys. They know what cars I have. I know what they have and work on. So they don't ask when I buy parts. It helps to establish a good relationship with your parts guys...

If youve never changed out a cam, dont start on something you rely on.

You want power, do a cam/lifter kit, heads and low resistance rockers, the lighter the better. Especially if you are blown.

I went the rocker route myself. I am quite pleased with them. Yeah sure a cam can produce more power on the top end, but all the work associated with having to do one, and coupled with the fact that this is my DD, I felt it better to go with the rockers. Plus if you had to do maintainence on them, they are a heck of a lot easier to access than a cam.

Here are a snippets when I replaced my rockers with the Modified 1.9 Rockers..

congrats on getting a nice tuneup, I have 104's at my house, lol cant find time to put 'em in but i already gapped em at .55 lol...anyways for a GP 606's and 605s is only what shows up on auto-store's recommended spark plugs ... shoulda bought a '04+ , I believe our cars fuel filter is non-serviceable.

not really trained to ask those qusetions. for the most part people like me are doing their best to help a customer, 99% of them just want/need stock replacements. And like you said "custom app" then I figure you have half a brain to know what you need/want then I would just give you what you want if I can, with a little prying because I am noisy and dont want you to destroy your car.
That is just the way I am thought I have changed tires, alt, starters and even helped put a side window in a car in the parking lot at my store. I want people to get their money worth in every sence of the maner and try to help them with it.
but yea we do get a ton of douch bags that have NO business even looking a tools.
