only the rear cover gasket failure would result in the oil into coolant (well a cracked timing cover would...)....at the same time it would allow tons of coolant into the oil resulting in a milkshake
oil would flow into the cooling system at running/startup. at shutdown the coolant would flow into the oil passages then to the pan.
you would have contamination both ways.
coolant in oil is a longer list of causes/pathways.
but since most rear cover leaks ive seen have been external...
