Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

yay *FIXED* cars !

Bio248

DUI BABY
so dont get me wrong, ill fix it. im just pissed off right now...

get out of work today. jump in, push in the clutch, turn the key.....................turn the key.......turn key....****

things i tried:

- battery is live, tried jumping the car and it made no difference.
- both of the switches on the clutch were jumped out individually. made no difference.
- knocked on the starter a few times with a breaker bar i have in the trunk. no difference.
- checked some fuses. all good.

i even attempted to bump start the car more than enough times to admit. **** you, car. (never went fast enough, really)

tomorrow i have to attempt to jump the two terminals on the starter to try and start the car the old fashioned way. if it ends up being an ignition switch i am going to be pissed, but a dead starter isn't going to be a walk in the park either.

this engine bay sucks.

Re: yay broken cars

Did you check the bolt pattern for the wheels ?

you son of a *****, lol.

yes, car is at work for the night. im driving a '96 cutlass right now. it's freakin' sweet.

this is my impreza (2006, 60k miles). it's a brand new car i shouldn't have to deal with things like this.

Re: yay broken cars

since i dont know nothin about those cars i say starter... sounds like every other car i came into contact with that problem

Re: yay broken cars

my guess is maybe it dropped a pass or umm I mean a cylinder or maybe an injector. I dunno must have dropped something after the fvckin GB game !!!

Re: yay broken cars

it has done this once before, but i just hit things and played with pedals and it fired up after a little bit. this time around no dice. its been somewhere around a year since it did this last time so it weirds me out.

Re: yay broken cars

scoobys do suck for engine bays, but I'm sure this has already crossed your mind, but double check the wires to it first, then further diagnois the issue.

Re: yay broken cars

scoobys have bad bays?
cant be any worse then what i work on, i did a thermostat to day and it took me 3 hours,
hour and an half to get to it, then 10 mins to change the t-stat and the rest to put it all back together again...it sucked

LMFAO you mean the ones on a GP that takes me like 3 min to change?

Re: yay broken cars

no, on a r56 cooper s(mini)

back to bio's problem
along with everyone else,
my vote is for the starter

does it make any noise's, like its trying to start

Re: yay broken cars

Starter really shouldn't be all that hard to change unless yours is in a different spot than mine. I never had to change it but I had the TMIC off once and saw the starter just chillin' there on top of the transmission.

Question - does your car have an immobilizer? I know the 05+ STi does, not sure if/when the WRX/2.5i/RS got it though.

Re: yay broken cars

Good luck..hopefully your weather warmed up a bit. It was pretty cold up there. Think of how I spent 4 hours at 10F the other night to get the nieghbors car fired up.

Re: yay broken cars

its snowing hard outside right now. i tried starting it for ****s this morning and still nothing. like i said (rather vaguely) above it does nothing. i turn the key and the lights go out like im trying to start it without the clutch in. however, i have tested both of the clutch safety switches so those arent the issue.

later on today i am going to test to see that the starter is seeing power and if it is i will jump the two leads on it and see if it turns over that way. if it does then ill have to take apart the steering column to get at the ignition switches, which i really dont want to do. i would rather it be the starter which i can see without issue. too bad that the starter you have to get under the car to take a couple of the bolts out of it.
