• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

This is a copy and paste from clubgp since I know some of you are banned from over there. :(

Woke up this morning and the wife and I were headed down to her parents to eat breakfast. I am a type1 diabetic, and my blood sugar apparently was VERY low. Anyway, I had a small seizure, my foot went to the floor and my wife did everything she could to try to control the car. We ended up driving into a restaurant.

Accident pictures taken by the ambulance service look like the bumper cover, hood and at least one fender.

Going up to the tow truck place in a few minutes to take a look at the car. :(

****. Sure hope that new frozenboost heat exchanger is ok. :(

On a positive note: My wife is fine. I am fine. Our dog that was with us is also fine.

Update later that day:

Ok, as far as needs:
Hood
Both fenders - little bit of massaging and then paint.
Bumper Cover
Headlights and parking lights
Another new frozenboost heat exchanger [:@][:@][:@]
Intercooler pump (fitting broke off of my ole flowjet.)
Radiator + fans
Cradle (GOOD local body shop says it is dented, but it is repairable easily)
On a positive note: Everything in the engine bay looks fine save for the radiator cooling fans. They were pushed into my headers, but the headers appear fine. Radiator support looks fine, but the radiator is definately bent.

Looks a lot worse in person, but it is fixable I. I have a month and a week before BGPM. This **** WILL be fixed. I refuse to miss it again.

One last note: if you are going to try to educate me on the disease I have had for over 10 years, save your breath. 99.9% of the time before I drive, my blood glucose is tested. For whatever reason, I failed to do so the morning of the accident. My wife told me and the EMTs and people at the hospital that I was acting completely normal that morning. Normally if my blood sugar drops dangerously low, she knows, as I more or less act like I am drunk.

I feel absolutely horrible, but at the same time I am thanking my lucky stars that I did not injure anybody. Only my car and my ego are hurt. The car is repairable, and my ego will repair itself over time.

Anyway - everybody stay safe out there. You never know when **** like this can happen. :(

I am so sorry to hear about the mishap. My daughter has type 1. We had a episode just the other day where her sugar dropped really low. We found out she had it when she was 2 and now she is 7. There's been a couple times that she's went into a seizure. Really scary. I am glad that everyone is alright. Let me know if you need anything. I'll do all I can to help.

#1. Glad you and your wife are OK.
#2. You more than anyone know how your body is. Nobody can educate you on how you feel when you need your insulin.
#3. I know I can't help, but if you need anything at all, I will do my best to help. I do retail GM Parts, so if there is anything at all, I'll shoot you my contact information if there is anything that you can't find at the salvage yards.

OMFG!!

Glad you and yours are okay! How bad was the restaurant? I imagine you dealt it a nice blow if it did that to your car.

Is insurance taking care of everything? Including mod parts?

WOW Zach!!!! I am glad to hear that everyone is OK and not injured, you guys are lucky! I hope you get a chance to get the car fixed up ok and can make it to Branson but if not dont beat yourself up over it.

that's too bad! that's one of nicest car on ilgp club too. when you said you end up hitting the restaurant, was the car smashed up on brick wall? the reason i ask cause i figure the side curb would stop the car first. also most restaurant have a concrete blocks line up in the front to keep cars from parking too close to the restaurant.

Dang Zack! I am really glad to hear you all are OK!! And the pooch too!!! And that no one in the resturant was injured. Cars can be definitely fixed, but human lives are a bit more delicate to say the least.

I wish you the speedest of recoveries and I hope to see you all at Branson with the GTP back in its prestine form!

Thanks for the concern everybody!

The part of the restaurant that I ran into was the back end of the place, and there was a pole barricade and inside of the back of the restaurant there was a cooler that was damaged. Nobody was near where I broke through the wall, and the owners were able to save most of the food that was in the cooler.

The only mod parts that appear to be damaged is that sexy new front mount heat exchanger I had, and the intercooler pump.

I got a voicemail from my insurance company about 30 minutes ago, but my claims lady is out to lunch now. All she said in the voicemail is that they had refigured my cars value and she wanted to go over it with me. She sounded VERY polite in this voicemail, so here's so hoping she has some good news for me.

I will update again when I hear what the new 'value' of my car is. :)

Dang, sucks to see such a nice GP wrecked. Good thing is you and your wife are ok, second you can fix the dammage. Could've been much much worse!

The second offer that they made me is a lot closer in line with what I thought my car was worth minus all the mods.

For some reason they keep wanting to mention making the check out to myself AND the bodyshop. I should be able to do whatever the heck I want with the car once I buy it back. I dont feel as if I should HAVE to make a decision immediately on wether or not I'm going to fix the car or not.

However, I WOULD like to have the money right away so if I do decide to just get a different car, my funds are available.

Anybody know anything about how that works? If the insurance company is calling it a 'total loss,' and told me I can buy it back - why in the heck would they have to put the body shops name on the settlement check?

If they are going to total it, then they should make the entire check out to you, then it's up to you to figure out what you're gonna do with it /part it out/fix it etc.

dont feel bad man i smashed mine up too 3 weeks ago, she comes home this friday. good luck and get it running. my insurance company made the check out to me and to chase bank because they are the leinholder.

Mine had some hail damage, NOT that bad and they totaled mine. They told me that they valued mine around $5000, and that the damage had to be less than 70% than that. I had the guy take off one thing so that it was under their amount.

Well. IL state law says that anything 9 years old or older does not need anything done to the title.

I have a bunch of stuff coming from Morad. Ordered a new hood, new grilles, new black corners, new IC heat exchanger, new GM IC pump, and a few other goodies.

Some stuff will be here today, some will be the middle of next week, but *******. I can not WAIT to get the hotrod back on the road. :)

Glad to see your getting your stuff together to get her back on the road. Won't be long and she'll be eating up the asphalt again.

Glad that you the wife and the pooch are all ok. Hate to see a good looking car smashed up. You can replace a car, not a person. Glad ya'll are ok!
