I was just curious what you guys think about this combination of mods and if everything should work well together.

05 L26 engine with 50K miles going in a 98GT
HV3 insert
TB Spacer
L67 TB
ER Rockers
Speed daddy headers
underdrive waterpump pulley
overdrive alt. pulley
CAI


maybe or maybe not ZZP PCM

I've got most of everything on my 200K series 2 3.8 right now except the pcm/rockers/headers and it runs pretty good.


Like i said i was just wondering what you guys thought if it sounds like everything should run fine and work great together.
 


Skip the TB spacer as all they do is help create coolant leaks. You don't need to fill your cylinders with coolant. That's counter productive.

Underdrive WP pulley: I'm not a fan of removing some of the cooling ability of the motor. Traffic, hot days etc. The motor needs that cooling ability, especially since you are running a thin radiator to begin with.

Overdrive alt: do you have a system or something that the alt is having trouble keeping up with?

These three things, I'd pull off the list. But w/o knowing about your area, plans etc. Maybe they fit.
 
well i do have a system and air pumps for the air ride, so thats why the alt pulley is there.

I'm not worried bout engine temps with my hood and cooling that i have, i barely ever see 190 let alone 200.

The TB spacers havent' done any harm yet, and have kept my TB ALOT cooler which helps with intake temps, right?

My plans are to basically just do a decent modded L26 for a daily driver. nothing to crazy just a little more umph.

think about how long the air is there. then think about how long it takes air to heat up when stationary.

it isnt helping a thing.
 
maybe i'll give it a shot w/o it. but if the TB and the maf is being heat soaked then wouldnt it show a warm intake temp?? even thought the air isnt in there very long, the sensor would show that its warmer air coming through than what it really is. right?
 
the IAT is different from the MAF. the IAT shouldn't heat soak and the sensor shouldn't make much of a difference anyway. the MAF has nothing to do with heat.

The TB spacer only keeps coolant from getting to the TB. There's so little that it's not likely to do a thing. As for heat soaking, anyone that stops for more than a few seconds heatsoaks the TB off the engine bay temps.

I understand where you are coming from and what you are saying, but after looking into it more and more... you'll understand what we are saying is experience not marketing.
 
well the only thing that is that, if i run an L67 TB on that L26 will the adapter block the coolant passages ? so i wouldnt need the spacer if thats the case correct?
 
I'd recommend an L67 if you are getting a new engine, but whatever works for you. And if you insist on the underdrive WP pulley, you could also try upgrading to a GTP radiator.
 
dont want to deal with the time and hassle of doing the l67 swap, plus i already have an l26 sitting at work.

i was wondering about that if the gtp radiator would fit right in place of a gt radiator?
 


cool cool, now would i be able to do that coolant block trick with the intake on the engine still and using a high powered vacuum to suck up the shavings from the tap??

just so i can save time and money with removing it and putting new gaskets on it
 
Can it be done, sure. Should it be done that way, no

Your radiator, your shavings. Your choice, ya know. I won't recommend it, but I might do it to my own car if I didn't do it while doing the gaskets automatically.
