• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Work junk, and junk... at work. By 'junk.

Time for another fox story from the grey room... for if you like bodywork stuffs.

So my current job had this grey primer patch on it, covering some nasty unfinished bondo. There was too much on it and still wasn't enough.

Talking about below the quarter window, the one where you can see rust from here. Spot at the rear had no filler on it yet.

So I sanded enough off to get a better idea what was underneath...

... yeah not lookin too good! A decision was made to dig it out.

Yep thats what some call fixed. There was even a little rust under the mud.

To stay fair... that was obviously a collision repair. It was probably done in a normal body shop for an insurance claim. I'm restoring. Not taking it all the way, but creating a stable base for our paint job. Different, a little. That bondo wasn't going to last.

So I went at it most of the day. It was awful deep in places, the whole area was mashed in clear back to the wheelwell.

Don't blink or you'll miss the holes being welded up-

And off I go, on to the rear section of the quarter. And another rocker dent that was hidden before teardown. Its a living.

that looks soooo much better than all that bondo. also your job could be worse you could be cleaning up dead animals off the highway

Forgot to wipe dust off the phone cover, but its back for finishing touches. Will this thing ever see the sun when I have a real camera ready... Who knows?

Hey Eric I see the San Bernadino thing that happened today... ugh. When the story came over the radio the conversation ended up revealing that my co worker was at Luby's. Yeah that Luby's, then. He was walking out as the shooter came in and hauled ass. I'll never understand, man.

They may be why the forum gave me "server too busy" message when I tried to post this yesterday. Lost what I wrote so this is it. The filler work is like 2/3 done now and the hood might already be primed. Quitting time snuck up on me yesterday so no pics then. These are Thursday, and no blocking had been done yet. 8" and 6" DA are used to rough in the shape, and a second application of filler goes over this. The new mud spot is just as big but nowhere near as thick. Yes, epoxy primer went down before filler here. Customer is due for a visit and a first bill next week. I cost a few grand a month, or so I'm told.

I'll see if I can't dig up more shiny stuff.

who in their right mind wants that pos Capri or stang redone? thats like the im a girls car years of stang lol

on the other hand. you did beat that q panel into submission damn good lol

I was having so much fun swinging a hammer at a Ford girl car, lol. Couldn't help myself. Those dang fox-bodies sure are fast though, with Chevy power of course. Theres just not much car there, thats why.

I gave the young man at work who has one a hard time because dudes that drive those are the ones whose baseball cap has a perfectly flat bill. Just makin an observation, ha. I do not know this customer but its a Mustang.

Thanky. We're all loaded up with Furds except the painter, doing a metric el Camino. Maybe I'll go back to the 66 Chevy when the boxy foxy body one is all "squared" away pun intended.

Saw some pics of a car I was about to go inspect, a wrecked like 68 Dart. Guy found another car thank goodness, it was wadded so hard in front that the driver horseshoed the door while breaking a leg. Guess I'll never see that one. I don't mind working on whatevz. Just wish mine could get the treatment!

Thanks. I'm gonna take those off next. Getting sealer only in jambs. It was easier to deal with them on the car for now, and ate up less shop space that way. It will be easier to block them out thoroughly on stands later.

you know i give them fox bodies a ton of crap but if painted up right they might be a fun little car. hell they got the light weight thing going for them. and yeah shaved handles would look better if you ask me. but then it would need to get painted again...
