Work junk, and junk... at work. By 'junk.

Hey GPF-ers! Maybe I should have titled this something about hinges but I may want to drop other groups of random pics here from time to time.

Sometimes I post pics of junk I work on or around, its like a mini-walk-thru at a hot rod shop. Maybe you've seen that before, I just decided to make a thread. Peek, read, ask, get ideas or whatever. Its mostly cool mixed projects, and just bits and pieces of the work. I usually lay hands on most rides that pass through so...

Once in awhile I throw out an idea that sticks. In this case, its using 2002 GTP stuff on a fire-breathing street-n-show car, a 72 TA clone. Its below, just walk with and we'll get to it.

T-bird engine is still a T-bird engine... No idea how this thing will look with proper wheels and all that blue tape peeled off:

That tight El Camino OZ interior and finally crappy underhood shots of that one. I dd lots of rust chopping on this one. Wish it was mine! Its about ready for final cleanup:

I spent the last couple days on this spot of concrete, smoothing the filler over where the quarters were bumped out for clearance. By the way, the wheelwell lip is a single layer thick. Its just rolled over like a doorskin. Fenders next. Tire size= huge by large!

Now heres the fun Grand Prix part... recognize those trunk, er, uh, hood hinges? Same car as above, other end. Hard to see but the hood side is even clearanced for tire. This thing is LOW. So low that the stock type hood hinge would have to be inside the tire. No good. I had the decklid ass'y from the 40th in my sig, just lying around so I suggested using the hinges from it, after pondering the Trans Am's scenario. With yes lots of modification, they will be used. The guys doing the fab work were glad to see them, and after trying out the idea they were all in.

So these are 2002 GTP coupe trunk hinges being used upside down and backwards as hood hinges on a heavily customized Pontiac aimed at SEMA 2015. I thought it was a thumbs up to the W-body. Some F-body owner will probably ask where to buy them, lol.

Well, that was odd. moving along... Heres what that 67 Ranger looks like now. I did a teardown of the body, cab n bed at a blaster's now.

The Mustang next to the Firebird has it's new floors about wrapped up. I reckon thats it for now. Ha ha GP trunk hinges though. Wanted to share that.

It would be like laying in a go-kart for you, man. We could cut out the roof and extend the shifter up there so's you could drive it Rat-Fink style! LOL Seriously, I think its gonna be a little cramped inside. Sometimes tight is good though. Hey that root beer float colored 65 GTO rag is for sale, c'mon!

i owned a 70 formula 400 back in the day, i fit just fine, send it up .........lol

now 70's camaros i dont fit in well. its how the lower dash flows under to your feet in the bird, (aka leg room) the camaro had that hard straight drop down with a sharp corner. my shins hit that crap lol

Aw man the frame is WAY up inside the car, dude. But yeah I don't think pain would matter much behind the wheel o that!

Did I read that correctly that the black car is an Elco? The AC Compressor setup on that LS is beautiful! I love the presure line adapters that follow the compressor and swoop down. Gorgeous!

Very nice projects you are working on. Keep the pics rolling in.

Yes the interior pics are 68 el Camino, its a grey on the outside, with silver stripes. I dig the 68s! (its a mid-budget build, our offroad guy did the mechanical end of it and loved how it was just LS cake) Thanks, man.

I can't name the compressor setup offhand, but it might be from the Street and Performance guys a couple hours south in Mena. We use their stuff sometimes.

Howdy! Oh I can scare up some finished ones from recent years if you dig shiny ones. Probably will but right now the weather is pri-mO for a cruise so me and the loud one are headed up to the "fossil squeezins" place before the neighs go to bed.

Alright then, classics X2 it is. Here are two of my favorites because I did a great percentage of the work myself. I'm lost on any spiffy electronics and try to stick to metal mud and primer but can also paint. Type-cast as the mild American muscle car guy up at work. Kinda, I bounce. I like to think I get panels pretty straight, its what I strive for most personally. These I did not paint but boy o boy did I everything else. Another guy wired this Imp, and I don't build engines but can make carbed installs run good if need be. We do get odd stuff but these two are timeless and when they park in close proximity at a car show I love to watch them-

My favorite Ford, a 70 Mach1. This thing is a BLAST, its just right. Strong retro medicine operating either of these rides!

This one I even wired and put together the rearend, woot. Made this hell torture custom clutch Z-bar for it but I do love a mech clutch.

Coyote swap was touchy... our guy hid everything under the seat and I mean EVERYthing. It has electric steering and brake assist. I did voodoo on the gennie steel all around and custom exhaust tips. Unitizing the inner and outer fenders was another of my frain barts. Hard to sss but theres no line of bolts.
