I did a search and im not sure which fault it falls under. I hear/feel the tranny shift into 4th and then i hear it jump rpms at a like 45-50mph on me. I have downshifted into 3rd before to see virtually no difference.

I had a local tranny guy drive the car and he said that forth was gone and that he thought some sort of spider gear replacement would probably do the trick. But what im reading on here is that it might be a valvebody issue?

I planned to take the tranny out up on the lift and take it in to him to tear into and fix. The one code i got was something to do with torque converter clutch or something. Its been awhile and i didn't pay much attention.

Should i still take it into him or is this a bad idea? He has rebuilt tons of transmissions, but im not sure if while he tears it apart if he will see the problem or not. He told me he it would be around 4-500 bucks after parts and labor for him to do it. (he works on the side)

Sounds like the 4th clutch hub shaft splines are stripped. What year car? If it's before an 03 that is likely the cause because in 03 GM started using hardened shafts that don't strip.

Driver's side of the cradle has to be dropped and the side cover of the tranny has to be removed. I'm not sure how deep he has to go after that. A tranny shop shouldn't find it too difficult.

like $60 for the clutch hub, $10 for the valve body and channel plate gaskets. Youll have to go to a tranny shop to get the gaskets b/c i dont think anyone sells them seperately.
