won't shift out of first very well

Hello everyone!! I have a problem with my car not shifting out of 1st gear very well. When I fist drive the car and its cold, it won't shift out of first. the RPMs will go all the was up to 4 and 5 and the car won't shift. If I drive it and keep it at 2.5 to 3 RPM, it will EVENTUALLY shift up into 2nd. It seems to be only after the car warms up though. After it finally shifts out of 1st for the first time, it'll shift better but not smooth. It's kind of a hard shift into 2nd. I've changed my pressure solenoid and shift solenoid. The shift solenoid was the 1-2 solenoid. I've also changed the tranny filter once and fluid twice. Still no go. I'm thinking I need a new tranny, but I wanted to throw this out there before I do anything drastic just in case it might be a simple fix. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

It sounds like your trans is shot, especially after the work you have already performed on it but you can still check a few things. Do you have a way to scan the car and make sure the pcm is commanding the car to shift? Do you have any codes stored in history?

No I don't have any way to scan the car. My check engine light is not coming on or anything like that. In fact, no dummy lights are coming on at all. The car only has 124,000 miles on it. It's a shame that I should be having tranny problems already, and I just bought the car back in March. Oh well....lesson learned I guess.

I test drove a comp G with 55,000 miles on it and it was slipping bad between first and second. ........mileage has little to do with how long a trans lasts..........heat, abuse, and maintenance all play much larger roles, imo......
