so.



i have 2 auxiliary gauges, underdash led strips, and 4 individual led's hooked up to 1 switch, on a community ground running off the same power line from the battery with a 40amp inline fuse.

now.

for no good reason, all of that chit, only likes to turn on when it wants to.

all of that has been working relatively fine without any issues up until recently.

ive checked all my connections, tried a bigger switch and splitting up the grounds. and still no worky.:th_tongue2:

whats the problem in the system??? :th_scratchhead:
 


Are you getting voltage when they're not working? Have you done a continuity test on your ground when they're not working? I would also connect one thing at a time, and see if you have a gauge or led strip pulling everything down with it.

Without testing the lines, the only thing you could really check your connections again. It sounds like you might have a break in the line coming in from your battery. Sometimes a bump or something might cause it to connect or disconnect.
How did you connect the main power line to the rest of them? Did you run it right to the switch?
 
Remove the crimp connectors you put on and solder. Problem solved. It's very simple, you have a bad connection.

Your fuse BTW is way too large for what you are running. At most I think a 10-15amp is more in the proper size range. LED's take hardly any power, gauges likely aren't pulling much either.

thats my problem right there, and my connections are, well connected, like they've been like this for almost 2years and now i have this issue, i just re-ran the powerwire through the firewall to potentially remedy this problem and nothing, still the same issue -_-

How did you connect the main power line to the rest of them? Did you run it right to the switch?
yes, i have the wire run from the auxiliary power on the engine with that 40amp on there directly to the switch, then from switch to everywhere else.

Multimeter.... BOOM, done with the problem solved.

was planning on it, but on some of them are in places that only people with arms made of silly puddy and zero gravity could solder them haha

i've been meaning to swap it out for the longest time but its just one of those out of sight out of mind type o-things













i plan on rewiring this whole setup in the nearish future, i'm just trying to figure out if after i redo everything i'll still have this problem or not, because i'll be adding more lights when i do it.

but as for the interior led's i want them off a switch setup and to turn on when the corner lights go on
 
You need a meter bro, lol. Or at very least a test light. Otherwise, you're just throwing darts in the dark.

What do you mean? You want the LED's on when your parking lights are on?
 
Running power through the firewall is never really a good idea. Whenever possible only run a ground through the firewall to control something. If you do run a power wire through the firewall, ensure the fuse is at the source of the power.
