wire harness question

okay so i am a bit confused... today i got the metra 70-2003 radio harness in the mail from amazon. found here Amazon.com: Metra 70-2003 Radio Wiring Harness For GM 98-Up Harness: Car Electronics
now i thought that they didnt come with a red because the harness for the grand prix doesnt have a switched ignition.. but as shown here

there is a red wire (looks pink in the pic but its red)

now in the like stock photo ive seen its supposed to come with an extra red wire like here

but mine did not. so can someone explain to me how youre supposed to wire the switched ignition because im confused. the adapter has a red wire on it so why cant you just use it?

If you plug that harness in and test the red wire, you wont get the switched 12v...because that harness is basically for a 97-03. Everything else should match up, except for the harness that that one plugs into doesnt have a switched 12v in it. So you just run your own. If they didnt include it in the kit, just go to autozone or any parts store (Walmart probably carry that wire) and pick up a 5 ft roll of primary cable.

alright thanks for the help. when i saw that red wire i was just shocked and confused cause i thought it didnt come with one. will probably be hooking up my stuff next weekend!
