• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

wire gauge

4 guage for the kenwood
8 guage for the jvc

it says on the websites what the recommened size wire is and they both are accuarate

I wouldn't go anything below 4 gauge for more than 1000 watts.... I will be running around 2,000 tomorrow and I am running 1/0 to a regulator and then to a secondary battery (this will get rid of the need for a cap).... and then hopefully in a month or two I will be adding another 1,000 watts to the system for my two 8" subs as well. 4 gauge definantly for your set up though. if you start to get dimming interior lights or head lights at night you may also want to think about a cap too.... just a thought.

No that will not dim your headlights... A cap is completly useless also, I am pulling 85 amps and have no dimming issuses after upgrading all the wiring under the hood.

I just said to think about a cap if the headlights begin to dim..... my old baretta had that issue.... didn't say he had to get one.... just wanted to make sure he was well informed.... some people don't even know what a cap is.... and since I don't have mine hooked up (doing that tomorrow) I am not sure how much that altinator can take before you begin to see voltage drops... my guess though is around 2,000watts.... also got to keep in mind the age of the altenator and the types of headlights and fog lights and ect a person has... fancy headlights are power hungry....

done with my rant... no offense to anyone... just wanted to make sure that IF he began having that issue he would already know what had to be done... makes life easier.

i ran a 4000 watt system for 16 months on the stock alternator. i had 2 three farad caps and an optima battery and 2 four guage wires feed it. last summer, i sold all of it. i had my alt. tested recently bc i thought the bearing was going bad, but it wasnt and it was puttin up numbers like it was out of the factory. so they can take alot!

and I am not stepping on your toes by anymeans.... I am going a bit much on my system but, I am not buying an optima battery... I am using just the standard car battery thats in it, and the stinger battery as my secondary I got for nother out of a system I dismantled for a kid (he didn't even know they were in there, two of em)... I also don't have a cap anymore cuz I sold it. Since I had the equipment (the fosgate regulator and two stinger dry cells) I thought why not use it... little much but, rather be safe than to hurt anything on the car....

well i had a noticeable change when i put my caps in. the lights didn't dim anymore when they did dim before i put them in, and i can definatley tell the subs hit harder. not by much but i could notice a change...

here is what I got for my new wire for my sub.

It is 2 gauge wire that I got from home depot I got the inline fuse from wall mart (it accaully seems pretty solid). this look good to you guys.

ya i know thats what you said. this was the best size for the money i got this for like 1.75 a foot. is just a fuse the ones that are round and glass? and you right I shouldnt ever blow it. what size of fuse should I use??

i'm soooo exited to get this stuff installed it is going to be so much fun :) I miss working on my car. one down fall of getting an education I guess

Ya I cant argue with that. The part that makes me the maddest is I have to park on a gravel lot sometimes and that means that my car is allllways dirty but other then that i cant complain
