Wipers will not turn off

Howdy All:

Wife drove new 2001 GT through flooded section of road (spring thaw real problem this year).

She had the wipers on when driving through it, then they would not shut off.

They have low speed on all settings but high which does speed up.

I have searched like crazy here and the one post that I found with the same symptoms did not have any replies.

I did find tons of stuff on other wiper problems and now feel well armed to tackle these as they occur.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Later Robert.

sounds like the switch went bad, and the flood may have been coincidence..

unless you had water up to the windshield.

when it gets belowe 0* my wipers will stop right in front of my face. they operate perfectly fine but when you turn them off they stop upright. its so weird. ive seen another car that had the same problem.

how does this help the op? this is a statement that belongs in the random thought thread.

ok i better remedy this. its probably the switch. my switch is probably bad as well.
thats why i posted that scotty. ;)

just stop thinking out loud in the treads, keep on topic.

stop arguing with everyone. you make it hard to follow a post for gods sake.

EDIT:I REFUSE TO EVEN POST ANOTHER REPLY TO YOU.

This is just ice on the stop tab right here

sweet. i wasnt expecting anyone to have an answer for that. makes sense since 20 minutes in the sun fixes it.
thanks keith!

No prob..you just have to remove the cowling...and that tab also bends (especially if it got coated in ice), so make sure thats its still sitting at 90*

too bad it would take as long to get to it and scrape the ice off, as it would to let the car thaw out.

Well, for now. But eventually that tab will bend to the point that the wipers will do that every time....just somethin to look out for

If you keep bending the tab, it will keep bending and keep ****ing up....

Metal bent at room temp doesnt end well.

No, but youre not doing this everyday. Maybe once a year. When it breaks off, weld it back or pull a new wiper mount from the JY
