Windshield wipers park in the upright position

Have an 01 GP SE 3.1.
The W/W just started parking themselves in the upright position. They work fine otherwise. Has anyone else had this problem? I heard the circuit boards go bad in these sometimes.

Yep. Common issue. The park pawl is bent in the wiper transmission. You can pull the arm and the cowel to get to it and bend the tab back so they will park correctly again. Try a quick search for this as there is probably a detailed how-to on it.

Thanks! i'll look for a how to on google.

I just bent my tab back and it's been fine ever since, and that was 2 yrs. ago. Being in Florida I doubt you have anything like snow/ice like I do putting undue strain on it. Personally I'd just bend it back and go from there.

Good news. I got the tab bent back and the wipers now go back in the park position. It wasn't bent back very far so it didn't need to be bent to far. This was a minnesota car for 10 years so that's probably why it was bent back. It wasn't to bad a job but it was all the crap you had to get out of the way. The link you sent was a big help as the diagram showed right where the tab was. Thanks again for the help on this. Most people would never be able to figure this out without someone who's been there and had this same problem.
