Windshield Wiper Question

What's going on everybody? I have a 97 GT and when you put the wioers on delay, they go trough the cycle, but when they return to the start position, they don't stop at the base of the windshield. The wipers come back up and stop about 6 or 7 inches from the base. They work fine, wipers just don't stop where they are suppose to. Anybody else ever have this problem or know how I can fix it? Any info will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Could be the threads are rounded, and they are not grabbing like they are supposed to. Take them off and check.

Is there some kind of sensor or relay that could be going bad? Because when you cut the wipers off, they go back down like normal, It's only when they're on delay that the wipers don't stop at the base of the windshield.

They're not slipping or anything, they just don't stop at the bottom of the windsheild. When on delay, the wipers go all the way up and then all the way down, they just come back up about 6 or 7 inches before they stop. Then they continue there normal cycle for the delay. The problem is, when they return to the bottom of the windshield, they don't stay there, they come back up the 6 or 7 inches then stop.

the same thing happens with my daytona, I have never given it any thought. like you said when they get turn off they go back down to the rest positon in the cowl.

Yea, it's really not a big problem. It's just a little nerve racking when there is a mist of rain and the wipers are in your face. Would just like to get it fixed though.

had this happen with my old cavalier, when i replaced the windshield wiper motor, one day in shop at highschool the teacher said that it was out of time, or something like that because they parked where they were suppose to when you turn them off but when i had them on they always stopped about 4 or 5 inches up and then always went to far when wiping... i don't really know how a windshield wiper motor can be out of time tho...? i never grasped that concept

Yea sounds about right. Thanks for the info. Now just git to figure out how to fix it. Atleast know I have a good direction to go in. Thanks again.

yea i wish i could help you on how to fix them.. i spent hours trying to do mine, and then i just ended up giving up
