Windshield washer fluid

I just replaced the windshield washer pump on my 2001. It never worked since I've had the car. You get to it thru the right front wheel well. Anyway, I grabbed the gallon jug of "blue stuff" that I keep in the garage and filled the resevoir and it worked fine. I started reading the label on the stuff I poured in and it said may freeze at or below 32F. It had no anti-freeze in it. I probably picked it up at Walmart when it was on sale. I had to drain the resevoir and I bought new stuff that says good to minus 20F. My warning is just because it's blue does not mean it has anti-freeze in it. The new plastic pump probably would have froze and shattered.
 


You probably bought the stuff in the summer. Summer blend windshield wash has no anit-freeze agent in it. Vs De-Icer\ windshield fluid does. :P I've done the same thing not thinking about it. IT will freeze but it wont' harm your pump unless you try to use it alot.
 
i ****ing hate using rainX

the ****ing de icer isn't as strong as the stuff that costs 50 cents more per gallon and it turns the snow i'm too lazy to wipe off my car YELLOW.

I'll agree it's not for everyone, but then again when it snows here I leave 10 minutes earlier so I can wipe off as much snow as possible. I like it because it's the only winter blend sold year round in these parts.

theres some orange all season stuff sold for 50 cents more all year round here thats rated for -49* C (-52* F) with a stronger de-icer in it as well as some detergent to help keep things clean. :th_thumbsup-wink:

If i'm going to be doing 50 mph or higher, i'll wipe all the snow off since its only the courtious thing to do. Nothing better than driving on the freeway to have someone dump a load of snow on/in front of your car.

Under that? **** it. Lights and windows and lets go.

Orange stuff? What brand? But then again the record low here is -27 so I'm sure I'm too far south to find what you are talking about.

I like this one, too. It is also classic Rain-X and helps the water bead off the windshield. Love this stuff. I always looks for the orange.:th_thumbsup-wink:
 
no matter what i use it always seems to freeze onto my windshield or streak or something in the winter. i try not to use it
