Window tint



Ok I've Googled and here is the deal, the tint which is basically the color and this is like adhesive on back of the tint, it won't peel but will scrape with a razor blade but I don't won't to do it cause of the wires, there has to be a way to get it off, has anybody had any luck?, will a blow drier work?

Ok, I used almost a whole bottle of alchol lol but no steel wool yet, do you think it will cut through the adhesive and get it off?

it should, its very fine and wont hurt the glass. you can find it at hardware stores. you want "triple negative steel wool -000"

its what your supposed to use to fine clean the windows before the tint gets put on.

if they dont have -000 -0000 should also work. warm soapy water may help cut the glue off too. if R/A dont work.

you'l know if its coming off asap, the steel wool will clog up and you'll have to turn it.
 
nope, just keep going left to right, right to left, and the defroster lines will be safe. i used it on all my windows before i tinted them.

if you plan on re tinting it yourself, scrub that black outline real good, its the part tint dont really like to stick too.
 
I'll try it when I get home and I'll probably get it tinted again later I just can see behind me right now lol I can't even tell what kind of car is behind me

Mix Formula 409 and Windex to a 50/50 blend. My tint guy said that is what he uses to get the glue off. I'd go to an autobody shop and tell them what you are doing. they should have something to get the tint off.
 
People have told me it cost just as much to get it off as to put new tint on, I guess it's glue it sorta peels off if I scrape it and parts smear, I'm going to try the wool and warm water and soap later and I'll post back, then I'll try 409 and windex

I wouldn't try to wool if it were me. If you have a autobody supply shop around I'd go there. They have great stuff there and it really isn't expensive. It's your car though.
 
steel wool is what the shop will use, and brand new sharp razors. look it up. how do you think i found out what to use?

and i used it to clean my windows. its so fine it cant scratch the glass.
 


I've never used it so I shouldn't knock it. Be careful using razors around the wires though. When removing my old tint, we cut one of the wires and the defrost only worked to that point, and the radio wouldn't work if the defrost was on. It eventually led to this.....




My best guess was that many heat cycles led to the window degrading where the broken wire was. The window was warm and it was a cold rain that day. Came out of work to find this.
 
that blows, you dont use the razors on the back window, thats why you use the steel wool. im not talking SOS pads here, its -000 steel wool, its used a lot for furniture finishes.
 
I was young and dumb. I know more now lol. The old thing that held the window together was the new tint. It was a mess after it final broke. I'm glad Safelite broke it and had to sweep it up.
 
Geico won't replace it, got to pay the deductible first and usually more than it cost to buy one and get it installed cause I was going to knock the windshield out of my 00 gtp cause the rubber looks bad around the windshield
