Window rolls up a little bit

Hello Everyone,

I got a question regarding my driver side power window. Just the other day I hit the switch to roll the window all the way down. It rolled all the way down no problem but when I tried to roll it back up, it only came up about 4 inches and then stopped. No noise from the window motor or anything like that. It was almost as if it thought that was the top of the window. So then i rolled it back down no problem. Tried to do it again and it stopped at the exact same spot.

I was finally able to get the window all the way up by grabbing the window and pulling it up about an inch then pressing the switch to roll it up. When I do this, the window rolls up another 4 inches and stops. I repeat my steps of grabbing the window and lifting it about an inch and hit the switch to roll the window up another 4 inches until it is completely at the top.

The window rolls down no problem and I hear no unfamiliar noises coming from inside the door panel when this happens.

I have tried taking the switches apart and checking underneath the white rockers to make sure the contacts are fine and they are perfect. No matter where I stop rolling down my window, when I try to roll it back up it gets stuck at the exact same spots.

Any ideas what this could be? I will try and post a video of this maybe tomorrow but if I don't get around to it im sorry. Thanks for your help.

i had the same type of problem with the pasenger side door. the window regulator was bad. the cable in the regulator was fraying and coming apart and the gear on the motoe was cloged with little pieces of wire.
hope this can help.

I am also having this problem, when I took my door panel off tho, the cable mentioned was all over the place. Does anyone know of some type of schematic or something so I know how it all goes back together? I have a repair manual but it didn't really offer any type of help.

u have to get a new regualtor, if by chance u could get it back together...it gonna eff up again. they dont cost that much.
