• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Will this be a good setup?

I have a 2001 gp gt. I have a zzp downpipe w/ubend delete, new spark plugs(NGK) and wires. K&N CAI, zzp PCM. And I want to add the hv3 for the intake, get the zzp front power log(because I just want to use my downpipe instead of getting headers right now), and a GT1 Cam to top it off. I'm trying to get the most out of this gt without a topswap or turbo. Any other suggestions to add a little more power on top of these things?

If your set on doing a cam for a NA car might as well do the GT2 IMO it doesnt need headwork either so why not do the GT2 cam?

Everything depends on your budget and what you want out of the car...answer that...then we can answer you....Ported Heads/Cam/Custom tune and a butt load of timing would make for a pretty stout GT tho.

ported throttle body? pm reptile

While I agree, he can't por the throttle body unless he has a way to custom tune the thing.

While the GT2 probably makes a little more power, it isn't always the best choice.

The only difference in the GT1 and GT2 are two degrees of lobe separation, otherwise the cams are idential to each other. For a more streetable car, the higher the number, the smoother the cam is...and the wider power range it has. The GT2 has a closer lobe separation and therefore is more rough (case in point I think it loped better than my XP did) but it has a more sudden surge and stronger mid range than the GT1 would. You would notice two degrees if the cars were otherwise idential...maybe. OP should choose based on what he wants. IMO, I wouldn't even mod an N/A without forced induction in mind; that's just me.

Well this is my DD so I want it to have a decent MPG. I also want it to be fast enough to beat some cars around here. And I am a college student so I'm working on a low budget that's why I was staying away from the top swap and turbo. But as of right now I just want my gt to be faster.

Finish off your exhaust with plog since you don't want headers, HV3, and tune... and call it a day. Until your ready down the road to snail it.

Add a shift kit of your choice, poly mounts, and ER rockers wouldnt be a bad alternative to a cam.Its easier and yields nearly the same gains.

If you're working on a low budget, then you should just stay away from modding all together. Somewhere along the line, you'll spend your mod money, on a mod, and then have no money to fix a problem.

Now a GT will pull on a GTP for the first 30ish, if the GTP doesnt have a driver mod, but that's it.

TBH, the fastest, cheapest way to make you happy is to do a L67 swap, source parts, and reseach, and you're looking at roughly the same cost.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, I really like the way the cam makes the car sound on top of the power gain from it, thats why i am really wanting the cam. make it sound race car haha

You dont have to.They just say that cuz the extra incoming air and the delicate MAF with the way it reads it. If you have a ported stock one you dont need but if you run a GTP TB then yea tune for it.

Yes you DO have to. Most cars won't even run after a ported throttle body due to the way the MAF readings are skewed. Fact.

just drop an L67 in it, your already half way there since u gotta pull the motor anyways to do the cam
