Will an ecu from other years work on an 02 grand prix gtp?

hey all,
I am helping a friend with his 2002 grand prix GTP. we are trying to find a replacement ecu ASAP. I found one locally from a 1998 grand prix gtp. Are the ECUs interchangeable?
 


the maf file is not the same. as the maf part # changed. will it run? yes, but maybe not as well as it should. if the tb and maf are there off the 98 maybe snag it too.

definitely need to do a security learn. key to run for 10 minutes, off for less then 5 seconds and back to run. do this 3 times. 4 th time you turn the key it will crank and fire up.
