Will a 305 engine fit into 1999 or newer grand prix?

So i am looking to buy a grand prix and i already have a 305 engine in my garage that is not having a use. So i was wondering if it would work. If not then why? (i am not very educated on my car engines)
 


Not very educated + crappy 305 V8 + swap that hasn't been done = no go.

I mean, unless you've got tons of time and a decent amount of cash for it...and at that point I'd just build a 3800 that is made for it.
 


slap a caddy eldorado fwd trans on the small block. theres got to be an adapter plate out there. custom axles to go with that too.

a 305 with a intake cam and headers is nice little engine, headers on a GP with a sbc is all custom work too. unless you steal it from a caddy and work off that set up.

and then you need to mount it all. sounds like more work than its worth unless you have time, money, tools and lots of skills.
 
280-330 CHP is all you can expect out of it.

Thats about what you can get out of a 3800 with an intercooler/rockers or just a cam/headers.
 
and 350's are so common u can buy parts at rona. so why wouldnt u put a 350 in it if u were gonna go threw with all the trouble
 


SBC's have been stuffed into Fieros, so I don't see how it is impossible to do here... I can't necessarily say I condone the idea - nor would it be very cost effective, but I do believe it is possible. Sell the 305 and put the money toward modding the 3800, or pick up a Gen3 Firebird and go to town.
 
305 is junk...its just a boat anchor. possible yes. worth it? HELL no. either sell the gp and 350 and pick up another platform that is RWD or sell the 305 and mod your 3800.
as to fitting into a fiero...fiero's are RWD with a mid engine. that would be a hell of a nice swap. but fwd? nope.
 
yeah nothing wrong with the 305. its no 350 or 400 , but a solid engine for a dd boat from the 70's.

i had a friend in HS who has a 71 nova, with a 305 in it, cam headers. intake, and where it had no chance in a race with my stock 70 400 firebird, it still had a load more power than it did stock. and it sounded good too.

another guy had a 69 camaro, with a 327 in it, that car sounded like a beast. it was built nice.
 


For all the money and wrench time you would need to custom fit a 305 in a GP, you would be able to have a very fast supercharged 3800.

If you were going for a LSx engine to drop in for the "HOLY **** HE DID IT" factor, I could see it being SLIGHTLY worth it, but for a old 305...
