• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Wife broke the car :(

intake gaskets leak too much water and hydrolock???i know it'll happen on the l36's.. hope u find a competent mechanic.

Well I'm finally back from Iraq and it seems that the wife and I are just gonna cut the losses and sell the Daytona :(.

With the engine "locked" up and my lack of mechanical knowledge to really get a good look at the engine, we obviously won't be asking too much for it.

At least the exterior is in pretty good condition!

I'll get some pictures and a walk around video up of it soon.

start it without the serpentine belt on the car...could have a locked up ac compressor or maybe the alternator, causing the crank not to have enough power to turn the motor over.

Man I know that a locked up alt. can prevent an engine from turning over, it happened to me. The starter just doesn't have the power to over come the alt if it's locked up. I took the belt off and started right up.

WELL!!

I finally looked under the hood to see why the engine didn't start at all. The first thing I noticed was that both the S/C belt and the serpentine belt were off the pulleys. When I looked closer I could see the freaking serpentine belt was wrapped around the crank pulley. Now I'm no mechanic, but I'm pretty sure that was the reason it would never turn over.

I pulled the S/C belt out (it was still intact), but had to cut the serpentine belt in 3 places to get it out, and even then there is still a piece stuck to where I can't even cut it loose.

After that I hooked up some jumper cables to my truck and it started right up. There was a little bit of smoke (burnt rubber) coming from where the cable was stuck.

All in all, I don't know what the hell the mechanic thought was wrong, but at least it can be started now.

Should help sell it, no?
