Whump while turning

So as the title says, I get a "whump whump whump" sound while I'm driving and turn both right and left. It speeds up as the car speeds up. Thought it was the driver cv as there was grease all over so I changed the driveaxle. The sound was still there. Then I noticed a squeal and found play in the driver's hub so I changed that. There's still a slight squeal/scraping sound, but I think it's the pads rubbing on rust on the edge of the rotor. Passenger hub was changed 2-3 years ago at the dealership. I can't see any indications of a bad boot on the passenger driveaxle. Is there any way to test a driveaxle?

Could it be the steering rack? I think I had a similar sound in my Cavalier years ago that turned out to be the rack. The car is a 02 GT with 101k miles. The sound started 5-10k miles ago. I don't know if it has gotten any worse, I may just be more in tune to it. My brother rode with me and thought he might have heard it.

I don't feel any shaking, just have the sound. I might be able to feel it in the brake pedal from time to time when stopping or it might be my imagination at this point.

Just looking for some ideas before I start tossing more money at it.
 


Ok dumb question but how old are your tires? Any plugs or slime in any of them... Might one of the tire weights come off??
 
Both good questions. I hadn't thought of the rear wheels at all because it really sounds like it's coming from in front. I'll have to take a look at the rears.

The tires are Goodyear Assurance ComfortTreads with probably about 50-60k miles on them (rated for 80k). They've got about 4 or 5/32" tread left. I know I've gotten at least 3 plugs in the set of 4 tires. I know at least 2 of them have plugs and maybe 3 each have 1 plug. I too was wondering if it could be the tires due to wear or plugs. And I just dropped $800 on tires for the wife's Rav4 so I'm not looking forward to spending for my car yet. The tires have been rotated at least twice since the sound started and has continued to be just as loud, but maybe it is the tires.
