Who makes the best downpipe?

I really hate making yet another thread, but I think this subject warrants it's own thread since I don't seem to be able to find the answer I seek.

So again, my question is who makes the best downpipe, specifically the best 3" bolt in catted downpipe for my 07 GT? When I say best, I mean best quality, best fitting, least trouble with installataion.

I've read some other threads where later models have issues with CEL's even with the cat and I want to avoid issues, or have the solution to them beforehand. I've looked at every vendor that I can find and have narrowed it down to the one at 3800 performance Hogan Performance W-Body 3" Stainless Steel Downpipe with Hi Flow Catalytic Converter: 3800 Performance and ZZP ZZ Performance and WBS W Body Store

The only thing I am leary about on WBS is the fact that the pics don't work for the downpipe.

Is there any other affordable options that I am missing? Which would you recommend? Do you have experience with any of them?

And before anyone says it, I am not looking at headers.

Thanks in advance.

headers are really yur best option...BUT i bought and sold a 3" zzp bolt-on catted dp and it was easy to install (the b**** was gettin the stock one off) and it throw no lights, i do recomend buying ur own gasket (dp to resonator) tho bc the one zzp gave me fell apart in a few months

The problem with CEL's is that high flow cats don't do a good job as an emissions control.

If you were looking for a 3" cat I'd suggest magnaflow part number 46009.

Go to hottexhaust and use discount code superhonda. Under 200 to your door.

But thats just for the cat.

The DP is another 100-200.

The best (imo) is the ZZP. Fitment is absolutely spot on, and takes maybe 20min to install, once the old one is off.

And with the CELs, its because of the high flow cats, If you pop the CEL, you can always get an O2 Standoff, but with my 3" catted, it never did.

My other option would be to buy the piece that goes from the crossover to the cat, and a ubend delete, then just use my factory cat.

Honestly, I am not looking for a major performance gain. I am looking to fix my current issue of the hole in the flex.

I'm guessing that the vendors offering the $50 or $60 "no SES" option are just adding an o2 sim?

I guess this could be construed as a stupid question as well, but why do the 04+ require an extension harness for the o2 when using an aftermarket dp?

Well, lets hope someone can step in with the answers. It would be nice to have all this info in a thread for someone to find with a future search.

Just to update. I went ahead and ordered the ZZP 3" bolt in catted downpipe.

I'll come back and answer my own questions I had for the extension harness and the o2 sim once I am ready for install. I hope to have it by Wednesday or Thursday as I have a 300 mile trip to take on Friday.

dont you get some sort of credit if you buy a zzp down pipe and return your old down pipe? idk if this deal is over with

Don't fall for that. It's really not a good deal for the buyer.

After adding what I had to add, and with shipping it came to $275. ZZP says, "Hey, send us your cat and you'll get a $50 gift card to our store."

So now ZZP is giving you money that has to come back to them, and is making money on your cat. So now that $275 turns into $325 plus the profit off the cat.

I should be able to get around $75 or $80 for my cat elsewhere, and that is money back in my pocket, not money I am forced to spend at one store.

And on another note, the downpipe shipped today. I should have it Tuesday.

I was just there and it was $50 to send the cat in, unless they have it somewhere else. Either way, I really don't need anything else from ZZP. I need to get cash back in my account

EDIT: Copied straight from ZZP

For a limited time ZZPerformance will be giving out $50 coupon codes for returning your stock downpipe to ZZP for catalytic converter recycling. You don't even have to pay for return shipping! Simply select "prepaid return label" from the drop down and we'll send you a return shipping label with your purchase. Then put your old downpipe (or just the cat) in the package that the new one comes in and drop it off at any UPS shipper(excluding the catback box due to being oversized). We'll email you a coupon code good for $50 off of your next ZZP purchase! Returned units can be cut up but the OEM converter must be intact. Already bought our downpipe? We'll still offer the $50 coupon code but you'll have to pay for the return shipping.

Its only going to be a few bucks difference anywhere you go usually. They have to stay competitive with the other ones around them. Since I usuallu only have lil stuff I just go to the ones with a actual parking lot not a drive your car through this craphole
