who hates ford

You know what is sad....The fact that Pontiac isnt around anymore but Ford still is. I grew up a Chevy Boy, and my first car was(is) a 1998 monte carlo z34(why they changed it to z34 and not ss idk) and the thing is great. Bought it with 100k on it, a year later no problems car runs great.

I'm with ya. I'm a third generation Pontiac guy. My first was an '81 GP and have had several others since then and continuing today. Two good things came out of ford. To my knowledge, there have been exactly two accomplishments in their history.

1) Invention of the assembly line
2) Styling on the modern day Mustang

The second one ONLY came due to necessity. Otherwise, everyone would still be driving around in a Model T and it would be black since Henry didn't have even a vision for colors on a vehicle. We can all thank General Motors for that one.:th_thumbsup-wink:

Actually, it was the color that was most readily available and cheap, which is what the model T was created for. Every American to have a vehicle. Ever used Kingsford charcoal? You can thank Ford for that as well. What do you think they did with all the shavings from the Frames? Oh ya, and do you know who was henry's next door neighbor? Thomas Edison. Now, who do you really think created the assembly line? That was back when sitting on the front stoop at evenings is what you did, because is was the best way to stay cool.

Haha thanks man. You know though, everyone and their mother (literally) has a mustang now days. I mean its probably because they are cheap, reliable and easy to find.......The one thing that drives me nuts are the people with V6 camaros/mustangs and think their the **** when its like.....your cars kind of fake? But the newer V6's have over 300 hp, now thats great power for great fuel econo imo. But if i was going to drop 22 grand on a LT camaro id drop the extra 3 grand for the SS.

Anyways, arent Ford cranks some of the strongest out there?

when my mom bought her jeep 04 1/2 unlimited in 05 they wanted 37k we went in with the msrp their cost and what ever consumer reports said and an hour to the minute later she drove away at 1% above cost

Thats jeep, not GM.

She should have tried to buy a G8... the dealerships wouldn't budge on MSRP.

Ford dealerships are notorious for cutting the price just by saying hello.

they took gov money just not the huge bail out deal dont think ford didnt get any help along the way but yes their cars are becoming more upto date and more attractive to the buyer

ya know, i'm not for sure on facts and figures or anything, but couldn't the reason that ford didn't take government bailout money be because their sales didn't take as big of a hit as gm's did because ford's sales weren't near the level of gm's?

and before i get told off for this, i would like to re-iterate: i did not look up any numbers.
just saying it's theoretically possible.

but, since number's don't lie, most numbers are hid from view or too hard to find and nobody ever knows for sure.

and the new taurus is humongous. i thought it was a minivan the first time i saw one.

true, the SHO ain't no ***** man. plus they were the only company not to take any government money.

They must be doing something right they've been around over 100 years the only other U.S. manufacturer of vehicles that can say that is Harley-Davidson.
I hate working on fords myself but other than that they have more appealing cars than GM has right now. GM has the Camaro and well the Camaro. GM has the "fleet" car mentality and it's killing them they expect you to pay more for everything power windows etc.

What I mean by "fleet" car is they make every model stripped down with window cranks no a/c manual locks etc. for the ComEd's and phone companies and crap and expect us to pay a premium for stuff like power windows etc. I saw to hell with that and force them(comed etc.) to get the extras and by streamlining the production process you could lower the overall cost even though the cars will come with more.

I think the following should be standard equip. p/w,p/l, keyless entry, a/c, tilt and cruise period. Who wants a car that doesn't at least these options?

Since they(GM) axed the pontiac line and lost the G8 and Grand Prix and Solstice and the GTO they got nothing I really like but the camaro. I work in automotive and sometimes I can't believe the stupid crap that goes on. It's no wonder the big three are in the shape they are in.

This is just my opinion and its worth exactly what you paid to hear it. :th_winking:

Have any numbers to back this info up? Just asking.

Ford sold White, volvo, Mazda, a couple other companies over seas, New Holland, didnt renew contracts with vendors and started doing much more in house. GM couldn't do this due to their Union contracts and the fact if they sold any of one line it would give that new owner information on their current setup for their other lines that they didnt want to share. Much easier to get in the welfare line and not break the union(s). :th_laugh-lol3:

I'll never understand why Gm axed Pontiac....... Sales I guess? I dont know the numbers. But i mean, what cars on GM's line up are like Prixs/GTPS? None? i mean, they killed the monte carlo and the Camaro is officially the Coupe of chevy. But the thing is.......not everyone can have a RWD car as their DD....... And anyways doesnt everyone agree the sporty/coupe selection should be JUST A LITTLE larger than the camaro?

I will try and find the article
basically they took a smaller loan from the gov before the massive bailout that gm got it wasnt as heafty of an amount but wasnt chump change either

Eh, I'm learning to like Ford. I have no reason to hate an American car company. Now imports... those I hate...

As much as I don't like to admit it, I've been leaning more toward that over the past couple years. I think my "hate" of fords has downgraded to "extreme dislike" while my hate for foreign car makers has only gotten worse. It hit an all time high when I had to take a rental Hyundai to Chicago on a business trip. Talk about a junk piece of garbage!:th_angry-cussing:
