Whistle in engine bay over 3,000rpm

Just changed my LIM gaskets over the weekend and today was the first day I really got on it. I noticed if starting from a stop, during a pretty heavy accel, in 1st gear i get a whistling in the engine bay, and gets a little louder when I keep going past 3k. When I let off it sounds like a blow off valve, but not as noticeable.

I only notice this sound with my windows down. I have no high/rough idle, and no CEL's. Does not make the whistle under 3k in any gear, only over 3k.

Is this something ive never noticed before? I rarely get on it, and I rarely have my radio down, so maybe its been happening prior to my LIM change?

Any insight?

Eureka...you a vacuum in there with a WOT switch?

Honestly...it does sound like a vacuum leak...and they won't always throw a code. Spray some carb cleaner around the engine bay to see

How did the throttle body look? Mine was really dirty!!!! and I hit it with some cleaner and now its super quite. My only intentions were to fix the sticking throttle blade... which I did, but I also notice that when I turn my car off, it doesn't do that "one last breath, before sleep" thing anymore.
But I also used 3 cans of parts cleaner and 4 rolls of paper towel and about 150 q-tips to clean everything I put back on that wasn't getting replaced.:th_thumbsup-wink:

edit.... if u used a dorman intake... Just remembered that my new PCV holder wasn't holding it tight enough to the plenium, so I just used the original one, problem fixed!

I reused my UIM, because it was replaced in 2003 under warranty with the original owner. It looked great, so I just changed the gasket. I cleaned the TB last year and it was caked, but looked like new still last weekend.

In a rush to finish by the time it got dark last sunday, the last thing I installed was the rubber air intake tubing from the TB to the stock airbox. I popped it on the TB, but forgot to hook up and worm clamp the hose back onto the airbox side. :th_shakinghead2:

That explains my low mpg's, and that goes to show not to rush the work. At least it wasnt something major I forgot to do. Connected the hose to the airbox side and no more whistle.

Thanks for the help guys.
