Whining Noise When Turning

Me? yes. did all that BS, no frothiness in my pump res. I have read where it make take a while for all the air to work out of the system.. still whines a bit.. :(

Him, dunno.. LOL I chalk it up to crap reman parts... As for pumps, I'm not sure who reman's them... MOST racks come from A1 Cardone... sigh....

My pump came from O'Reily's... Don't know the brand of it. Duralast is Autozone IIRC. My rack came from there, but they are all A1's...

did the whining stop before or after you changed the rack?
 
i've never heard anything good about A1 Cardone parts.

duralast is autozone. people sh it talk there parts too, but so far i got a p/s pump, a water pump, tie rods ends and a inner, trans filter and im sure theres more, all have held up for the last 2 plus years. no failures. and the p/s pump is silent.

my chain of evens were, hard left turns, then the pump started to whine, then i lost all power steering. so i changed the pump. that did nothing. but the pump stopped whining. got the used rack popped it in, bled the air from lines. ( on stands, car off i tuned the wheel lock to lock, 15 times, the added more fluid. started the car, went lock to lock 10 more times.) have had perfect p/s since.
 
OH I don't have a problem with Autozone parts, I'm sure my account pages at both O'Reily's and Autozone are just as long... LOL Never really go to Advance, seems they are always further away and don't get me started on Pep Boys..

I didn't try the turn lock to lock with the car off.... Hmm.... I need to do that. :D
 


thanks for the imput guys ill talk to the shop tomorrow and find out what pump they buy and compare it with the autozone one, i believe it may be from napa but im not 100% ive seen a napa truck there before but it could be for other parts

the lock to lock deal is for when you change the rack. not needed for just a pump change. the lines and rack stay full when the pumps unhooked.
