Which rattle cans? For rear bumper & spoiler

My rear bumper and spoiler have the CC pealing like crazy. Its almost all gone off the spoiler and the bumper has a long streak missing above the license plate.
Finally warming up here so I can paint it easily outside.

Which spray can brand do you guys recommend? Rust-o-leum, Dupli-color, or the pricey AutomotiveTouchup? The AT is nearly 3x the $$ of the other two, but if it matches the best and lasts long, I don't mind paying. Probably only need 3-4 cans if that. I'm referring to the black mostly, I'm sure any brand CC will be just fine.

Might be able to getaway with just fresh CC on the bumper. But I'd like to completely repaint the spoiler. Might color change it to the gun metal grey to match the front diffuser.

Yea I'm not 100% sure on doing it all grey. Might do majority black and accent with the grey a lil. What Id like to do is some how get Special Edition stenciled in along the back of the spoiler on top. The deck lid has some visible rust..might paint that too and have to remove the stock SE vinyl.

dulicolor all the way. if you look close at your paint, you just may see the smallest amount of metal flake in it. if so get the gm metallic black.

this is how i got the car. no shine no clear, white on the top of the bumper. nicked up to hell.

this is all the nicks and scratches filled.

sanded smooth.

removed it to paint and finish sanding the edges nice. i primed it first due to all the filler, then painted took 3 short cans of paint, and a one tall can of clear coat. also used prep spray after the last sanding to clean it off, then primed, lightly sanded the primer, then paint, and clear.

used a tall saw horse to set it up on.

this is just paint and clear, not wet sanded yet. its got that matt finish to it.

this was all done last fall, it got to cold to finish so i got to it a few weeks ago, wet sanded and buffed with a HF buffer.

when paining make level passes and the same speed of the pass with a 50% over lap of each pass, go light, do like 3 coats or more. if you think a spot is light let it go for the next coat, you dont want runs.

i was all over the place with sand paper grit because i had to get into the plastic. if your just repainting it 1200 or just a red scotch bright pad should work to give the paint a good enough scuff so the new paint holds.

a few packs of wet sand paper with different grits. 800up to 1200 and higher if you want to get crazy. they sell kits with hook and loop paper and a holder for the paper like a sanding block that fits your hand nice for like 12 bucks.

i can of duplicolor prep spray

3 cans of duplicolor paint. on can covers about 1.5 coats for a whole bumper.

1 tall can of clear coat. you get like 4 coats on a whole bumper out of a can of clear.


i used turtle wax liquid compound and a buffer to get rid of the final sanding scratches. by hand is tough for sure. buffer makes light work of the final step.
