Which CAI is Better

It's the JMB. ;)

Another reason I didn't go with it is the lack of easy access to the filter. Didn't feel like going in to the fender for it. The WizAir lid pops off in about three seconds.

yea i had to cut the fenderwell support off...where the bumper meets the fender right behind the cornerlight...if you push there...yes it is flimsy but im real picky and it doesent bother me...except when i was doing it...it bothered me a little when i was doing it but now i dont even notice it...i mean nothings changed structually with the car....i think he must of cut his with a sawzall and mangled thing up lol....just take ur time...and not with a sawzall

I am a little surprised that the JMB does not have their AIT sensor location a little further down the tube near the fender well instead of being near the crossover pipe. If I had one those puppies, I think I would be relocating that thing closer to the fender well side of the pipe to assist with getting a little more accurate air temp reading.

Just a thought looking at that picture. But you definitely have one clean setup sir :)
 


I'll say it since no one has. I'm happy with the K&N kit. It's running in both my GP and Impala. No drilling or bending required. I could slap the old air box in and you wouldn't know anything was different. Every once in a while AutoAnything runs a sale, so I've been able to get the K&N kit for under $200.

You want the IAT as close to the TB as you can get it. Accuracy is the key here. If you just want to spoof the IAT readings, you may as well remove it and let the PCM think is -40* all of the time. Since GM based it's IAT calculations off of the fduct location, it is what it is. Howver the most accurate place to have an IAT would be in the intake right before the air enters the CC.:)

I almost went with the JMB, but after speaking to Justin (JMB) about his aluminized tubing not insulating and actually absorbing heat, a CAI made more sense to me. fwiw Justin in a real nice person, and his FWI it the nicest looking. IMO just not the right intake for me.
 
yeah as far as the iat, im running a fullsize ic setup so it probably doesent matter for me..and shortly i will be adjusting the timing on the car through the iat table..similar to what the happy knob does...so that woult matter anyway...


i found some real good insulation at home depot but it comes in a big role and it's like 25 bucks...i just havent been able to pick it up yet...but it looks like it should work really good

well i think that is how it may of come stock...because the only lines i moved or re-routed are like vacume lines and fuel lines...
 
Yeah, I see know how it has a clip holding it to the driver side fender. Mine only has the clip along the firewall side. I can come up with something, though. :cool:
 




To clean them all you have to do is vacuum the dirt on the filter out or use some air pressure to blow it all off.

The filter is made out of Nanofiber. After researching nanofiber I've decided its the way I want to go.

To clean the AEM Driflow,

AEM - DRYFLOW Performance Filters

The Amsoil filter equivalent to the AEM driflow is the 4090 and appears to be made like the S&B power stack, which I like. The Amsoil site doesn't really say how to clean the filter, but I know vacuuming or blowing with compressed air isn't usually recommended, because it compromises the filtering ability. Not usre if this is the case with the AMSoil filter.
