When NOT to honk (airbag injury pics)

I when I wrecked my 98 GP The air bags deployed and my metal watchband cut my left wrist wide open now people think I tried to off myself when they see the scar.

How did you like the powder that comes out and its nasty to inhale?

Again, I find that my injury coulda been so much worse... a cut on top of this would really up the pain, and a wrist scar yeah I bet that generates some pre-concieved notions among strangers. I still can't work. Tried but it was dumb.

The silver fog made me bail out immediately! No lie, black boogs next day and from only one inhale before I was out the door. Its awful stuff, reminded me of flake-type smokeless gunpowder.

Good news on my GTP front, numbers started coming in today and the car claim is settled for around three grand with me keeping it and a clean title. On I go... one-handed for awhile yet.

There is hope for the wounded warriors (the GTP and me) to fight another day!

Thats explains why the girl who hit my box truck was out of her car so fast after it punched her in the face.

Is your arm all yellow/orange and cool looking still

Mostly faded now except for the dark purple spot and kind of an outline of yellow-green. Them pop knots on my wrist did not like me trying to weld and grind yesterday though, one day's work put me clear back to last week on swelling. Putting a glove on that hand is tough without making a face and left handed welds would be a joke. Hoping my efforts let the boss know I'm still in the game, and thats important because he is being very cool about this.

I just feel like a perfectly good GP thats parked because of an oil sender or something like that. A messed up hand to a car guy is like sinus congestion to a dog. But it will pass.

Sounds like u got lucky kinda...... my first car was a 92 Nissan 240sx twin turbo with 288k miles full roll cage 5 point restraint bolted in seat I rolled it 13 times and smashed the roof into a tree laying on its passenger side doing 143mph. 6 in cut right elbow that was it. Rolled my 05 got trying to drift it lmao that was fun

Great one.. are the guys putting it back together for you since it's such a small easy fix?

Nope. I gotta get up there and do whatever I'm gonna do one handed and outdoors. Hopefully it drives OK, I'm still not certain I can touch it yet since the at-fault ins is draggin feet. Rental runs out tomorrow and I gotta have wheels, this happens every time I get shangled. Reach into pocket, pay others to be inconsiderate in my time of need. Pure undue hassle!

Insurance companies' kiddo employees are sometimes so green they could hide in short grass. They assume that once they write a check they can stop the rental. Never mind the time it takes to actually recieve the check and have it clear the bank, or time and logistics of shopping for and purchasing another vehicle or repairing the damaged one. Puts me in a bind every dang time.

I hate to drag this thread back up but found out today that my arm was actually fractured in two places. The big forearm bone is cracked all the way across, and theres a chip floating around on the pinky side of my wrist. And I was hammering and cutting rust out yesterday, albeit mostly one handed and in severe pain.

The big bone already started healing the crack, its been six weeks and with me working on and off as I could endure. First doctor didn't catch it at all, and yes lawsuit probably on that. His advise was to use it. I cannot imagine this whole thing going any worse. Fault has still not been decided at six weeks, in the accident. Tomorrow I get to talk about possible surgery and today I began an indefinite period of no wages. You'll find me under the overpass in a bumper box by summer if nobody claims responsibility. Don't let this be you, folks.

this is the kinda time you go claim disability. you pay for it, use it. if your not going to loose your job over the time off you should be good to go in 8 weeks time or so after the surgery.

Thats a good point, SD. I probably better start a claim.

Got the amended police report today and man... its not enough for a criminal suit but maybe civil, the cop says. Wreck happened in about a 20 second range they can't pin down exactly enough. A witness report conflicts with my account, indicating that the light was green longer than I said and that there was a car ahead of me. Personally, it broke my arm and any mental recordings of the last few seconds were blurred so I think thats expected. If we both had green, well I wasn't turning and he was, so there.

Anyway, meds sure are helping me out now. Not as much as not having to try to work! The regional manager of the clinic that missed my diagnosis left a voicemail today... yeah I BET he wants to talk. Forwarded the amended report to a lawyer and added the part about the clinic snafu, maybe they will bite now. All these people could not have set out to destroy me intentionally and done any better of a job at it. Had so much crammed down my throat lately I gotta hurl it somewhere, man. I'm just a car and peace-loving Cancer who detests drama so this whole deal really harshes my mellow big time. If you have a job, do it well enough to be proud of whatever it is.

Well SD, it turns out that disability is a pipe dream. Theres no such thing as short term, its only for things expected to last a year or kill ya. CT scan showed that my arm bone is pointed up at the end now, where its supposed to point down. Permanent loss of downward motion and it will forever look broken. If rehab doesn't get me full motion, they cut the bone all the way across and pin it then heal again and hope. What a slick piece of work by the kid in the Ranger and the cop. I don't even have a case but sure had a green light. Gonna start keeping my eyes peeled for a refrigerator box just my size.

Holy crap man, I really feel for ya. Hard to believe you don't have a case and this whole sh*tshow actually happened. I really hope you get some good news about this soon and not just more bad news.

Crappy deal, IDJ.

In your free time you should look for a dash-cam. Will help when you get screwed the next time.

+1 on the dash cam, I've had one for almost 2 years now. It would have skipped that long waiting period of them trying to find out who was at fault.
