about to pull my trans. after lookin around im under the impression it might be easier to pull the motor / trans out the top together...? or should i drop it out the bottom? this will be my first major job so any and all tip/ pointers are welcome and appreciated.

if you do decide to pull the motor and trans together, pulling from the top is pretty straightforward. look for bills writeups.

Actually..to get technical, it's all in teh easy thread.

1 10mm holding the ps line
2 18mm ps rack bolts
A few abs wiring clips
Motor/trans mounts (4 15mm nuts)
Pop ball joints
And...support drivetrain from above.
Then pull the 4 18mm cradle bolts.

you left out that nifty atv jack for dropping the trans again bill, who wants to bench press a trans lol.

i kid you not, bill had my trans out and on the floor in 1.5 hours. working on the floor in his garage, no lift.

Now lining the cradle up when finishing trans reinstall that's a different kinda fun.

Scott...they said dropping the cradle, not taking the whole thing out. I have the write up for that. They gotta read it.

Bill is the Miyagi of the 3800 world. Even if you think you know what you are doing he is still teaching you something.

I suppose one day, maybe a tip sheet would be good huh?

Two jacks (especially if you are alone
ATV/motorcycle jack for trans

Bring your camera's Scott... You can tape the next one.

Oh..and I've suggested that people buy the prybar I use for the drivers axle.

you need tri pods not camera men lol gopros and sh!t. mount it under the car, on the walls, under the hood. or better yet on your head!

that pry bars awesome, and a 4 foot pipe to pop the ball joints too.
