• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What's the thunk?

What did you end up finding in regards to the concern over worn motor mounts, loose bolts etc. I have been feeling this issue this spring and was curious what you'd come up with, if anything.

Everything looks tight. Mounts look great actually. I guess there could be some play in the dog bones, but the amount of "slop" I feel doesn't show at the dog bones.

I'll end up looking much closer when I replace the rack now. I was just back under the car rechecking my work from replacing the ISS just to make sure the steering slop I am now feeling wasn't something I screwed up when replacing it.

I'm going to end up replacing a lot of components when I do the rack so hopefully all the new parts will firm the car back up.

I'll put it to you this way. The earlier year cars appear to have MUCH softer boots covering the ends of the shaft. I don't know what year they changed it, but on my 07 the boots were extremely stiff making life a little more difficult. I had to take several breaks due to back spasms. All in all I pulled into the garage at 10:40, and took it for a ride at 12:30. Like I said though, most of my difficulties was fighting with the boots.

lower the rear sub frame so the end of the shaft is lower then the boot by the rack, the inside part, the boot does suck cause it really wont flex enough. i sliced my finger on the inside of to column too where that green thing is.

Well, everything seems to be smooth sailing now with no "slop" feeling. It could have been a number of things though. I replaced the rack, all 4 struts, front lower control arms, tie rod ends, front and rear sway bar links, and the front sway bar bushings.

Interesting. Only things you've done that I haven't is the steering rack, and front sway bar bushings. I'll try not to worry about it, it only happens when I'm coasting along and get back on the throttle. Sometimes it doesn't do it, sometimes it does.
