What's the difference?

Does anybody know the difference between the 5th generation 3100 motor and the 5th generation 3100 motor. I have a 2000 Pontiac grand prix and the motor is shot but I have a perfectly good 1996 3100 motor. And they are 2 generations and I don't know the difference between them so I no exactly what I'm up against before I start taking motors out of each car.

Being he's talking about a 96, and an 00 - he meant 5th and 6th.
I know in 2000 the 3.1 gained 15hp but I don't know the differences between the motors really.

The only thig that looks different is the intake and i don't know about degree on everything. I'm guessing the intake is different. If so I'll just use my intake. And just iffy about it. I just want to know what's the interchange between the 2 motors so I don't run into surprises when switching motors

get the 3800 out of that red car your uncle had and i have a top swap for it so you can supercharge it
