What are the differences between 97-00 and 00-03 GTP engine? I have a 97 GTP but i want to put an 03 GTP engine in it. I have heard there are some slight differences and i would like to know all i can before i buy this 03 engine. Someone told me they have different transmissions, but i'm not sure that is right either so i'd like more sources. what exactly ARE the differences and can anyone tell me EXACTLY what i will need to do to install the 03 engine properly???

all i know is the throttle body and i think the pcm might be different and the vacuum line are a different set up. but that was only 97 i belive

97 heads are more prone to cracking.

All 97-03 gtps use the same 4t65e-hd trans, 03 trans has a heat treated 4th clutch hub and some other minor differences

97 had a vacuum tree on the top of the blower the 97 GT had a different tranny than all other gt's and se's but the GTP tranny is the same except for the 2003 which is stated above ^^^. as for swapping engines, i would imagine just the engine, wiring harness, and pcm but dont quote me on it

97's trannys are vaccum controlled. The PCM's are different, on 97's the knock sensor is on the PCM under the plate ontop. And the throttle body is different.

97 should have a slightly different alternator bracket
97 Had the vacuum tree by the TB on the charger, it's still vacuum though.
00+ would have had the newer style TB and maf.
97 Trans would have had the threaded cooler lines. Somewhere around 98-99 they switched to push in lines with a clip instead of them being threaded.
