Whats Best For Putting Badges On?

burgundybullet

Modded for Maximum Slow
I want to put some badges back onto my car. Just looking for ways that you or your friends have put them back on that really stick good. Im thinkin double sided tape or glue but would like to knowof specific brands and such. Thanks!

3M Ultra Double Sided...it's designed for badges/body trim...****'s pricey tho, but works great.

Just make sure you hold the badges on there firm for about a minute to make sure they fully contact, so theres no peeling later.

Yeah, just make sure before you mount the badges to dewax and degrease the area, then wipe clean with some rubbing alcohol, to make sure it has a good surface to mount too

They are on and good so far. I was afraid to use rubbing alcohol cause when i used it on the trunk before for somethin it left scratches. 3M double sided tape is the way to go. lol

the rubbing alcohol wouldnt scratch ur finish it would have to be the the material you applied it with

and i know this is going a bit too far but prep clean would much better for the moulding and just about anything u wanna put on ur car

FYI 3M also makes an adhesion promoter. It comes in a little packet that has a liquid and an applicator in it. That sh!t works AWESOME in conjunction with the 3M tape.

Looks like this

If the pic doesn't work here is an Amazon link
Amazon.com: 3M Scotch 4298 Adhesion Promoter (Sponge Applicator Packet): 2.5cc sponge applicator (Straw): Home Improvement

I have seen it at a few local auto shops.

^^ Incase you need moar POWAR!

But yes, 3M tape, along with the promoter is amazing..Held 2 door cap mouldings on my GTP for 2years, with absolutely no give/breakdown.

my wing on my car is held on by 3M tape. its great stuff, really.

any chance you think this 3 m tape would hold a spoiler on? its plastic and light weight, but im sure air will be pulling up on it, i'd hate for it to come off on the highway.

i have 2 mounting points, both about 6 to 7 inches long, half of it is almost 3 inches wide, and then tapers to a point for the last 3 or 4 inches.

i ripped mine off once to get it painted. it took paint off with it and took a butt ton of effort. i would not hesitate to do it again with the 3M tape, even on a GP.
