What transmissions will fit my 98 GP GT

I changed my trans fluid today and the whole pan had shavings in it, so now i'm looking for a good used one again. I was woundering if the 3.1 GP 4t65e are the same?
 


I doubt the 3.1 will work as I would think it has a different bell housing pattern. IIRC anything from 98-02 will fit. 03 was a separate beast of its own. There will be some differences in the lines if you go with something newer than a 98 trans. I actually went backwards on my 00 GT and installed a 98 trans. Had to change the lines to the 98 style. Got them at the dealer for about $50 for the pair.
