What % Tint?

I'm going to get my windows tinted soon but not sure on what % to go with or whether i want two different shades or one all around. If any one has some info on reasonable prices let me know that would be very helpful! I got a qoute from a local tint shop for 189.99, right price or no?

i'd say go w/ one shade all around. the only cars i think that can pull that off are 4 doors!


percent wise, go w/ 15%. 5% is way 2 dark, and just imagine that at night w/ no lights around u! and anything higher just doesn't seem as black? doesn't make sense, i know, but it more or less looks like a dark grayish purple if u go 35%. <plus, the tint will fade alittle, so 35% plus fading = u will hate it!




and price wise, if it has a lifetime warranty, then that price is right! i paid 200 for lifetime warranty tint!

if 35% looks purple you have some cheap tint, I have a roll of it here, and it is black (the color is carbon black, not dye)
 
I went with 20% all around and even had my windshield done at 35% and I love it, However I do have HID all around.. fogs too... that helps,,,,

$189.99 is decent if they have an unconditional lifetime warranty and are reputable enough that they will not be out of business in two months. I would go no darker than about 20%, as beyond that makes it near impossible to see enough in the dark, especially in reverse. Also be sure to double check the laws in your area.
 
haha thx for the info and pics guys this helps alot i was thinking 20% all around but 15% does look better, I will post pics when I get the tint done.

FWIW i got quoted 230 for all windows except sunroof plus i got a window strip....and thats with stripping all of the old tinit off...and I know they do a good job because they did my first mustang...lifetime 3M tint

i got 5 all around, dark as hell, car looks great being as she is black too. i love rollin down the window to parallel park, chicks dig it :cool:

All my tint is a year old and all still looks BLACK
You get what you pay for...
I got Life-Time warranty 7 windows for $225
Back window is ONE PEACE as well
 


my windows look purple ....ive had the car for 2yrs dont know how long the tint has been on but they do look purple
 
thats cheap tint my friend. my car cost me 150$ with a 1 piece back window of 5% tint, we got good guys here in NYC
 
I got 15% all around, planning on doing 35% on the windsheild in the future.

If I had to do it over again, i'd do 5% all around if it were me...

Wait over five years like me and you can see that it is just cheap tint and/or abuse with ammonia-based cleaners that turns tint purple. I had 35% put on my last car in 2002 with a lifetime warranty with good tint, and it still looks like the day I had it put on...black.
