What size shims to use in shift kit ??

I am going to put some shims in the transmission and wanted to know whats the biggest i can use? I am thinking about going with a 1 inch on the bottom and a 3/4 inch on the top.I have heard some even used a 7/8 on the top and had good results with it being barely noticable at part throttle shifting.I want to know who has done this and what shims they used.If you look at zzp's site at the reviews, of the shift kits one guy stacked spacers and said it shifted like a beast. Also on Bonneville pro forum the guy who posted the shift kit thread says he used a 1 inch on the bottom and .875 (7/8) on the top. This is one of the things holding me up and i have researched this for hours on 10 different sites and still am not sure what to use. And Dex 6 or maxlife fluid? Thanks ahead of time guys! Also I am going to use aluminum shims i heard the zzp ones can mushroom and decrease pressure.I also am using a 2-3 spring in the 1-2 as commonly done.

I will install a kit like that if i rebuild the trans i just want the best bang for the buck right now.I have read hundreds of threads that said shimming did wonders and i am replacing the 1-2 spring to a 2-3 as well.Besides i think the intense kit is a trans go with some accumulator shims added. I was going to use the trans go until i read its not a performance kit.Just deals with some issues these transmissions sometimes have as we all know. I just want to shim it for now and will be rebuilding a trans soon with many upgrades this is just to get me by.Thanks for the input though i know your knowledgable as hell and i appreciate it.
