What should I do with my 99 SE

Jomamma

pssssshhhhhhtt
So my 99 SE 3.1L has been sitting in my driveway taking up space for some time now. Not sure what to do with it. Sell it as is, fix it sell it, fix it give it reuse it or junk it? It at least has a blown head gasket if not a warped head along with that. Put a lot of repairs into the car and its sitting on 2 brand new front tires and new brakes and rotors. The body and paint (minus the spoilers clear coat peeling) are in great condition.

Any Ideas?

Here's the car:

How is that more work?

It's easier than getting a 3100 and putting it back in there.

Those things, suck.

blown HG's? probably a leaking LIM gasket too...idk man, a 3.8 swap wouldnt be that bad. and you can sell it for more! my local junkyard is actually selling l26's for 250 a pop so im sure you can find a decent deal on one.

Yeah I know, if I was looking to swap out engines I would definitely put a 3800 in instead. I'm not looking to spend much money.

Had the LIM gaskets replaced not too long ago.

look at how much rebuilding a 3100 would be.

then think about spending a LITTLE more...like a hundred bucks or so...and finding a complete 3800 and toss it in and love the new found power and reliability compared to that 3100junkerer

I DO NOT want to rebuilt this engine. Changing the headgasket however is a possibilty

rebuilding the 3100 will take more time and money than just getting a used 3800 lol and still less reliable! then you can sell it.

For the price of replacing the head gasket its not worth doing on a 3100. If replacing heads on a 3100 is anything like doing it on a 3800 you are looking at upwards of $300 just in parts, gaskets and new rocker and head bolts.

Think about it.

HG blows.

Where's all that coolant go?

IN YOUR ENGINE.

So say you fix your HG...start the motor, and then...spun bearing from the coolant that got down there.

Then you're out even more monies.

Yay, chain of events.

You're right.

So I'm probably just gonna junk it or sell it as is. Could make a nice donor car.

Maybe if I could find a 3800 for cheap I guess it would make more sense to go that route. Where could I find one for cheap

there is a 3800 block for sale in parts right now but its for local pickup only in ohio. the guy says he has a lot of 3800 engine parts
