what other struts can i run on my 98 gp

im looking at a set of 04 comp g springs on craigslist locally but im not sure if they would be the same as the ones im running now? or the mount plates for the new impalas, or malibus, etc. ive noticed the newer gps, impalas, malibus,e tc have a nicer softer ride so i was curious if i could bolt up a set of these to soften up my ride a little? or if anyone has any input as to what i could throw in to make it a little more enjoyable ride
 


You can run anything.

Its the 04/05 guys who HAVE to run struts specific to their cars.

Also, if they are used springs.... Skip 'em.
 
You can use those struts. No problem. They will bolt right up. But it won't "soften" it up. CompG struts are stiffer than your average wbody strut.
 
my only issue is i cant poull part numbers for the new strut mount plates to see if the studs are the same spacing. the part that bolts to the knuckle looks the same on all of them but the mount on the top is my issue
 
and i guess im not as concerned with "softening" the ride but i just replaced my factory fromt struts with new mounts, and reused the old springs, and still feels like a really harsh ride. my open house is in three days so im gonna have some money to play with, im trying to find a better suspension/steering combo i guess

All 97-08 Grand Prixs use the exact same strut mount. Front and rear.
 
thanks for all the responses guys. i guess my next questions is (im not really that involved in the steering and suspension stuff yet) is that if i do end up goign with the comp g setup will it show any noticeable gains in handling over the gtp setup?
 


like i said i replaced front struts and mounts, backs are completely gone and i need all new front end stuff. coming into money this weekend so its either all or nothing. any suggestions as to the best places/brands for tie rods/ball joints/control arm bushings/etc
 
moog for all of the steering components.

new LCA's, sway bar bushings, links, tie rods.

KYB for the strut mounts and isolators and bellows etc.

Should be nice.
 
i almost forgot about that too, sway bar is broke in half on both ends as well so itll be replaced. i see wbody store has one, and theres a couple other, is there really that much of a difference for the gm ones of the slp bars for the cost difference
 


its gotta get somewhat better, i got about 1/2" each way in play with tie rods, same with ball joints, c/a bushings have 126k on them, sway bar is broke on both ends. when it kicks down to pass its a little scary haha
