What in the Holy Hell is a Freaking Cruising Ticket????

Last sunday I got pulled over and the cop said,
" have you been thru city limits more than 3 times? "
I was like, Yeah....he said "ill be right back"

So he gave me a ticket that was checked on the "other" and wrote, "did cruise town".

How can you give me a ticket for driving my freaking car...

Note to anyone, I was not acting stupid, speeding, nor swerving of ANYKIND..
just pimping around town checking out a few females...O and I was wearing my seatbelt, so can anyone explain WTF a crusing ticket is?

All depends on how the city ordinances are written. They can make a law against almost anything. The city counsel can make a law that you can't wear your hat backwards, or you can't wear big pants (actual city laws in some places). And if you are caught doing just that, you can be fined. So the probably have a law against cruising. I know the city I grew up in had a very similar law.

But the key here is that if you don't like something, or don't agree with something, you have the power to go to the city council meetings, speak your mind, and urge them to consider changing the ordinances. And get people that agree with you to go along and do the same. Chances are, like in our town, the laws were made years ago. Get enough people to speak their mind, and the city council will see that these laws are ridiculous and the public wants them changed.

So, instead of *****ing about it, take action to have them changed.
 
you get a thanks for that!!! Excellet way to put it man, didn't actually know how it works but you said it perfectly... just still alil' pissed about the whole thing...i'd hate to go on a road trip and get pulled over because they'res a town law on smoking a cigarette while driving...

you know, these city and state laws are a bunch of bull...its crazy...Then on top of that you can't talk your way out of it cause they'll say the ignorance of the law BS.
 
Just fight the ticket by saying that you were dropping off items from your relatives house to your house and made 3 trips because there wasn't enough room to fit everything at once.

There are many stupid approaches you can take to get out of a stupid ticket. They have no way of proving that you intended to drive up and down the streets for no apparent reason.

Yea this is very true, i got a $20 parking ticket on campus and rather pay it then go through the appeals system.

That's why when i talk to the cops i give as little information as necessary. Although many are understanding, others not so much. You have the right to say nothing when they ask you a question and sometimes it better to do just that.
 


Also if they have a no cruising law, there should be a no cruising zone sign at each end of the town limits or each end of the streets they're enforcing it on. If there are no signs, take a picture of the city limit signs, go to court and fight it. No signs means it can't be enforced because no one will know that a no cruising law exists there.
 
Thats a bunch of bull ****. We have a whole group of kids in my town we cruise around town for hours in a big group noone ever says anything to us. An we all have loud cars most have loud music as well an nothing happens. I have never heard of such a thing as a cruising ticket but as Zef said it could be some kind of stupid city ordinance.
 
There is no cruise zones, but more on busy city type street where traffic can get pretty bad. Back at home in VA Beach, there is a no cruise zone right on the strip at the beach because of all the pedestrian traffic. Most of the zones,your only allowed one pass up and one back. If they see you after that it's a ticket. Kinda sh@#y for some areas, but it's good in others.
 
sh@#y for this area cause it just finally got its first wal-mart about a year back, they still dont even have a movie theatre
 


If the cop told you it was a no cruise zone inside the city limits, take a picture of the citylimit signs far enough back to show no other signs around it. Take it to court, plead not guilty and you'll have your proof that there is nothing stating it is a no cruise and get it thrown out. If it is not posted, I don't see how they can enforce it. That would be like a cop giving a ticket for you not stoping at an intersection if there is no posted stop signs.

Wow that sucks. I had a kinda a bs ticket a few weeks back for window tint i got pulled over by a state trooper in town when our cops dont even enforce the tint law.

guys you wanna know something crazy virginia beach has a no swearing law on top of the no cruising law
no signs for the no cruising law but yet there are signs for the no swearing. i have personally seen these signs and the sign doesn't say no swearing but it has the symbols like @#$#@% with a line through it. and i have seen people get ticketed for swearing in public.
