what is timming advance?

i was using the torque app for my droid and i was wondering what timing advance was it said at idle i was at 20* and during WOT i was at 30* or something like that i just wanna know what it is

Timing advance tells you how many degrees before TDC the fuel is ignited.

Mines not even close to that, its like 20-25* idle and 30 or so during normal driving

Get a real scan, because I highly doubt it has 30* of ignition advance at WOT.
