what is the purpise

I would like to know what the purpose of the little small magnet is on the camshaft gear. I bought a new timing set and after putting it all back together I realized that I didn't put that little magnet on the new timing chain set do I need it and whats the purpose of

it's for the iginition timing. the car literally will not run without it.

Well I called tinneys in town and they have the piece I need for 75 bucks and I can't get it anywheres else today oh well its only money right ill make more on Monday lol

yeah dude you need that magnet pickup for your cam sensor
