I always hear ppl talKing about KR (KnocK retard) and i was wondering what that is?? i dont have my GP GTP yet. i get it in liKe 1 or 2 days but im just wondering what it is? If i didnt post it in the right place i dont care just plz answer the question

Knock retard is the “retarding” of ignition timing based off a signal given to the PCM by the knock sensor. KR is good to keep your pistons in one piece, and bad because optimal timing critical for peak HP. In most cases knock is the effect of pre-ignition in the combustion camber, and the “knock” is when that shock wave bounces off your pistons.

If you keep it (near) stock, KR shouldn't be an issue if you use premium gas. But you should always scan it just be be sure.

and what if it is heavily modded. no way even close to stocK...then what? and "OMFG" sorry i dont Know anything about grand prix's i had a Camaro and a Stang so im still a noobie to GP's. dont be a douche.

Yes but you have to look at it from blue's angle, you see this every day, over and over... It's called a search. And if it's "heavily" modified, you should probably know how to use a tuner and be checking for knock regularly.

IF that is the case...you have probably been on a forum...and you have probably heard of the magical SEARCH button. It is called READING man...its not that hard to look through a forum and see what has already been posted. KR, Top Swapping, and "WHAT MODS TO PUT ON NEXT" are all covered in 3 threads here...and all the links are the in Safely Modding Your 3800 Thread...so if you have ever REALLY read that...you should have seen those links.

THIS GUY KNOWS.

3.0 pulley, catback, cold air, 160* T-Stat, AL103's, and moved BBV.

so, this "moved bbv" mod? what exactly is that? sounds cool, it'll probably be my next mod! :th_king-normal: How much power will i get from it? btw, should i drain the oil from it before i move it? just wondering, thanks!

Drain the oil and fill it up again...remove BBV, leave hole in vacuum line...and drain the oil yet again. Should net about 15 horsepower from the loss in rotating mass.

no i call heavily modded as ( Headers,ported blower with a 3.2" blower pulley,Comp XP-Cam with upgraded 105lb springs,LS1 throttle body,85Maf sensor,Cold air intake,3" exhaust,MSD igniton wires,Tuned,42lb injectors,Transmission shift kit, 160* T-Stat)

If you have all that stuff done and don't know what KR is :th_scratchhead: you FAIL!

and Blue is an official Douche :)

Blue's a pretty knowledgeable guy. If you've ever been on a forum before it really gets annoying when the new people come in and ask the same question over and over again. All he was trying to say is search or look for a previous thread before making one that is redundant.

BTW if you have all of that stuff done to your car you "Should" know what KR is. :th_laugh-lol3:
